That's playing dirty. It would be wonderful if you could get out on your own. I recently had a "friend" remind me of an episode that happened 30 years ago. I don't need friends like that.

I know from personal experience that isn't the easiest thing to do but we all need protection from these kind of assaults.

I bet is you had cancer that wouldn't get thrown in your face every five minutes!

Thank you all for your replies. Miss Sunshyne,I still talk to one of them (a sister) because she calls me several times a week,and if I don't tell her the intimate details of my daily life,she calls that being "sneaky" because they all find out somehow anyway (don't ask me how). My sister said today that I would do anything to have a relationship with a man,referring to someone young enough to be my son. I told the caregiver on duty today that from now on,I don't want my family to be involved in my treatment (the owner had called my sister to drive me to the hospital once,and that was what I had thrown in my face because it was "over a guy").
Anyway I feel better now. Thanks to all for sending good thoughts my way.

People like that don't deserve your love. You need to put yourself first and let go of people who find the need to bring up the past. How does bringing up the past change anything? It doesn't. Hugs GB

I'm sorry that your family says things that hurt you. They may not even realize their hurting you. To them reminding you of hospitalizations may be there way of helping you to keep going in the right direction and do well. Whichever, it doesn't sound like you guys communicate well, and that causes you pain. Sometimes we just have to distance ourselves and leave the job of taking care of ourselves to us, if we're able. I know you often don't seem to want to be where you are but at least where you are now you get some say in what happens with you. I don't think I'd ever want to live with a family member and have them lording over me and telling me what was good or not for me.

I hope that you find some peace in your situation, even if that means taking a break from your family for a while and giving yourself some peace.

Glad to see you are feeling better over all of it. I am able to love and be friends with my sister, the saint. But, there is no way I can let her in my business just for the reasons you mention. You are doing the right thing by putting up some boundaries about your health care.

If your sister has your power attorney, you do know you can be very specific in there about what she has power over, right?

i.e. Power over finances but none over medical decisions. Also, any and all powers can be revoked by you at any time.
