I can't take the constant ups and downs. In the past I turned to drugs to help me to be more stable and I still struggle with that addiction even though I'm 7 years clean. The biggest struggle is the people around me not understanding and think I'm just looking for the easy way or just want to be high all the time, when I'm just trying to feel normal and happy. The prescriptions don't help much because they just give me less energy and less patience for people around me. It's hell and I can't make people understand why I feel the need to drink or smoke pot or crack or sniff cocaine or shoot heroin. I'm not looking for the easy way I'm looking to feel happy again. It's like I have 6 days of complete misery and 1 manic psuedo happy day

She told me that the guy who raped and beat me 21 years ago now almost 20 years at that time, was in prison as of a month before that...

I will say that I've never in my 31 years of being BiPolar and meeting/mentoring other BiPolars come across any that have had success with self-medication with street drugs or alcohol....they just aren't designed to work on the brain they way we need them to, in order to control the disease we have.
The point isn't to be sad some days and happy others .. it's to find stability.... If you haven't tried Lamictal I would ask your pdoc about it
Big hug... Unless the people around you are bipolar they won't get it sweetie... They can empathize but they can't truly understand our plight... xo
