I'm off on a two hour drive north of where I live to the Sacramento area where our niece lives and we will have a day together cooking, eating and hanging out. The family will be there and many more...we will stay overnight with out brother-in-law and have some fun I hope...

My dad got back from his full left hip replacement. He is actually walking around, and up and down the stairs. I guess he wont have to sleep on the couch on the 1st level.

Since he is on the mend, we will get a pizza or some other take out this year. Nothing formal. Unless my sister is going to try and make a turkey. I doubt that though.

Just going to relax.

I plan on being depressed. I have a cardiac conditition that removed my ability to run or jog. I went from a regionally ranked 50 mile trail runner to unable to run 100 feet nearly overnight. For this thanksgiving, I am going to compete, walk actually, in a 5K. I have built up my walking to two miles and I can gut it out for the last mile. I have run Boston three times, 50+ marathons, 12 50K races, and some 50 mile races in there also. To be brought so low that I have to worry about running a 5K is just depressing. What I would give to run just once again one of my 8 mile training runs on the national mall. So I plan to be depressed.

Thor perhaps be thankful that your still able to do the 5k instead of nothing at all....

I'll be alone with my dog. I'm making ham and baked mac cheese and I'll cry. Cross stitch and have a glass of wine.

I'm packed up and will be heading down to Charleston in the morning to spend 5 days with Grammy. We'll cook, eat, continue our constant Boardgame battle and watch way too much stupid TV. An Aunt and Uncle that I only see a couple times a year will be in town for Thanksgiving day, so that will be nice. Friday night we'll go to the "Magnolia Plantation and Gardens, Chinese Lantern Festival" its all Chinese Lanterns, Dragons, Sculpture Lights....kind of their version of Christmas Lights.

So looking forward to getting out of town and just hanging out and relaxing and enjoying good company for a few days.

I can't do a 5K and my heart is fine.....joints and lungs are crap....I can't walk a 5k.

I'm glad you decided to go to you aunt's getting around family is good for the soul as long as you get along with your family that is lol.
I will be going to my husband's aunt and uncle's house. All his family will be there. I love seeing all of them. His aunt and uncle make the turkey and everyone else brings a desert or side. I haven't figured out what I'm bringing yet and it's in 1 day :-0

Thor I understand it's hard to be so active and go down a few notches but be happy you still are alive and well and can do a 5k walk. You might work up to something harder one day again. Just give it time. Thanksgiving is a day to be thankful so think of your blessings. I need that advise too lol

We will be going over to our best friend's home and have dinner at noon. Visit a while and then leave at 3:00 so I can be at work by 5pm. I have to work till 1:15am Friday. Trying to think positively about this, but really not looking forward to working 8 hours on Thanksgiving evening. It's usually busy in the store for about 2 hours or so and then it slows down.

Got damn! Dad always gets a 20lb turkey from work. Thor I’m glad you can even do a small run. Kat I love board games!!

Yeah we enjoy a few board games and have a running battle from visit to visit.

I hated working Black Friday in retail. I never minded working holidays at the assisted living. It was usually pretty quiet and laid back and the kit hen fed us well

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I went to a concert last night with family then rode back with them and spent the night.... cooking at my moms then heading to an aunt’s house.

Lets see, since 1993 I worked every Black Friday and many Thanksgiving Days with the exception of one year and now this year. I swear they should have a rule that if you work thanksgiving then you shouldn’t have to work obnoxious hours Christmas Eve or around New Years. But many places you have to work all of it. I had to work Christmas Day the past few years in the airport. So I feel for you, beckyp. Hang in there. I hope your place of employment is at least providing meals for you.
