Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
Hey all, so i'm 24 and was diagnosed with bipolar type 2 when i was 20.. i tried various combination of medication. I got bad side effects from all. Then i found the combo i am on now.. no side effects. I think for a while my mood improved, i haven't faced a deep depression until now but my anxiety has been out of whack since october, with 3 stays at a crisis unit, 2 psych ward stays and one mandotory 72 hour hold after a suicide attempt.. all in the last 8 months. I have no sick or vacation days left at work from all of this. All the while i've seen many doctors and three different psychiatrists all who think my med should stay the same..because they seem to be working, which seems absurd to me. Now since getting out of the hospital after my suicide attempt, i have been falling deeper and deeper into depression. I have absolutely no energy, to the point where i'm almost falling asleep at work, when i do have the motivation to go. I get constant headaches and just feel super meh. Should i try to get a medication change again? Tips on how to do this?

Happy start-of-the-week!!!! I have work in a couple hours. Rocket is being a stinker over here refusing to finish his breakfast which is most unusual. I will give him a few millk bones before I have to leave for work and some kibble in his bowl. What is something you are looking forward to? For me, I am look forward to seeing my therapist tomorrow and my prayer meeting is on tuesday

There has been a lot going on in a few months so if you can I would try to have continuity of care just to try and figure out what's what
It took me about 3 years when I was first diagnosed to really feel stable and that was with a combo of seeing my pdoc, finding the right med combo and therapy that helped me with finding coping skills
It was really a combo of all that helped me to the next good place
I'm sorry that you've been struggling so badly..... Big hug.....xo
You said you've seen 3 different Pdocs and they all think your meds are fine, I'm assuming these are the Pdocs you saw on the Psych ward stays during the 8 months.
Do you have a regular Pdoc and Therapist that you see for the Treatment of your BiPolar? If so, what does your Pdoc say? Because that is the person who should be managing your medication and making change decisions.
It does sound like you need some med tweaks, you've gotten a good run out of the ones your on now, but we grow, and women especially as they grow through their "primary child bearing years" 20 - 30's have major hormonal shifts as they age. Brain Chemistry changes, bodies change, hormones change and increase and BiPolar meds will have to be adjusted and changed.
Patients also need to be doing all they can to make sure they're keeping themselves healthy in their disease, i.e. eating healthy, no drinking or substance abuse, regular decent sleep, exercise.
So whats you Dr. situation? Who do you normally see for your BiPolar Treatment & Therapy when things are good and you're not in crisis?
