So I was diagnosed at 16 and I'm now 27. I came to the realization a long time ago that I am stuck with this for the rest of my life. First I was in denial and thought I could get by on life without meds and by self medicating. Unfortunately that didn't work so well, so I decided to do what the doctors said I should because who knows maybe they really do want to help me. I started taking the meds and began to feel a slight bit better but here's the catch no one told you about, yes I'll begin to feel better but along with mood changes and life changes come medication changes. I'm never on the same thing for a long period of time I'm always having to switch my meds for how I feel. It can be tiresome.

I get you. I know it's not easy.
I also know that I can't understand what YOU are going through exactly.
Please keep communicating w/your doctors...you seem to have real doctors ~ good luck.

Yes, the med changes are hard, yet once you have the right combo, from my experience I've stayed on the same meds for 7 years now. Being young, you have hormones, maybe children, and much more stress than I at 63. Like you, I was in denial for many many years! Finally in 2010 I was put on my Thank You God Drug...Lamictal...may not work for everyone, as we all have different symptoms, but I began a life I'd never known before! Take care, ml

I hear you medication changes are the pits it takes some time to find meds that work. However, medication is a piece of the BP pie it's not the whole pie. Having stability and good long term health involves emotional balance, good sleep, and good nutrition.....it's all possible to work out!

Yeah it sucks switching meds. Mine have changed many times in theee years. Wow my stomach been exactly three years since I started meds. But I'm happy with my current ones and with my pdoc. This so s forever. Bipolar seems now to be a way of life

Keep at it........I didn't get my meds completely stabilized well after I was diagnosed. I've been on the same cocktail for 6 years now and prior to that experienced every side effect possible. It was worth it though the mix I have been on is what keeps my moods stabilized.

Hi and welcome Kelsey ....Yes the med changes can be the pits... Unfortunately what works for one person often doesn't work for another
I'm very med sensitive as well however I've now been on the same cocktail for several years with a couple of tweaks along the way... I now try to stay on the same meds and just adjust the dosage as needed.... I'm glad you found us.... This is a great group....xo

Hello, I understand it isn't easy. It seems as if the doctors are willing to help. Have you considered talking with them about what you are feeling. Praying for you.
