Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
Best of luck with what you decide
this plan, for your own good.
I understand that the services are strained in cities, they are strained here in Las Vegas, and I'm looking at being homeless here soon. I don't want to be homeless but I can't keep working here and really have few options. I know I want out of this desert, and being from Seattle at least I'd know my way around.
But I will give thought to San Diego. Anywhere I go it's going to be tough. Living homeless in Las Vegas isn't a good option though.
Being homeless opens you up to all sort of benefits from the government. Such as Obamacare.
This is providing that you don't have a large savings account.
You can apply for Medicade and MediCal, you will get free medications and free Pdoc visits.
You can put in for emergency housing .
Towns I am thinking of are Willows, Redding , Chico, Marysville, Yuba City, Colusa, Corning ...look in that area
God be with you my dear friend
The death card actually represents a new begingin, you can't have that without a ending....
I have started over with nothing, and I'm blessed. I have never understood people using storage units LOL, especially the people I've known - they pay money forever, fuck up and lose everything. I have always thought, travel light and start over.
I was severely depressed for years in a house I had owned for 16 years. I left all the pain and problems and went to New Zealand, with one suitcase. When I came back, had to start over including job and car....
It was a stupid decision! I left a house I owed $30,000 and it was worth $100k - bank took it all, but with no family or friends, no one watching my back or helping - I was more than the house.
I went to NZ, because if I was going to be lonely and miserable, I might as well do it from a new location....
I have no idea my point! *big grin*, what's the saying - take what you like and leave the rest!
Wait, I have run women homeless shelters - they fill apartments with stuff and give lots of clothes. once you find the programs! There is a lot of help out there, you need one good break, one good person... But till then, your here with us - and I would never let you get a storage, or walk away from a house : )
So I had free rent, doing a good deed and got a waitress job, and bought a car..... I was in the delivery room for 3 babies, one Christmas I had 8 mothers, and 12 kids babies to 12... I stayed there for two years....
There are things and ways out there!
I would recommend not making a sudden decision but thoroughly researching each place and the support services they have for the homeless mentally ill. Tap into any contacts you may have from the past. See if your doctors will give you a referral that the mental health homeless services will accept. Tap into DS members who live in those places who can give you an honest picture of how bad it is. Keep us in touch with your plans.
Very common, and they always do!
I would draw up a pros and cons list for each city and also for staying in Las Vegas to explore all your options more fully.
As you know change will be hard , some change may be unpleasant and maybe some good ??
I'm not crazy about the idea of being homeless.
Is it possible to check out job listings in some of the areas you would like to live ?
Research every thing now while you have a computer ( Internet )
What services they have available to low to no income .
Who knows some states are better than others for help .
I wish you well on your journey what ever it may be .
Big Hugs and stay strong !
PS have you looked into SS ??
You should do that to your car anyways so it won't be wasted money.
