Some good advice here in this thread, Heretic, and I know you find your situation intolerable. You already feel the coming heat of summer in the desert.
I would suggest, if you're dead set on leaving soon, that you do the research, make some contacts as to your health needs being met, pick a destination and get there safely and to as safe a place as you can that is NOT on the street.
I don't know if you have transferable skills but it would be great if you knew you had a job waiting for you but that doesn't seem to be your major concern right now.
All I can say is "plan the work and then work the plan". It will help give you direction and focus in your journey. It does sound like the Pacific Northwest is where your heart is set on going to.
I hope once you get there you find the help you need and the kind of friend(s) we all need to help us through the hard times and to share the good times that life has in store for us all. (((BBH)))

Maybe your instincts are telling you what way to go.
But I really like what fiddlesticks said. Make your plan first. Do research. Save up $$.
I like Portland myself & want to move there someday. I am dissatisfied with LA & all the people, pollution & traffic. I also like the Portland weather...lol.
