Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
2) If you want to change your meds talk to you Pdoc.
because no one was on and against my better judgement
decided to post here. I am miserable on meds and my
pdoc won't do anything and change my meds because I
tried abilify and it wasn't working and had to go back on this med
I think that being med free is my choice and if I am miserable on
meds why don't I deserve the chance to go off of them and see.
However.... you've made your mind up anyway. You're posting here for validation. If you want to make a choice BPP make one.
Youve got the right information to make the right choice. We cant make it for you.
You KNOW you should talk to your Pdoc. So talk to them. They miht be able to give you something to help with the weigth gain.
If you feel your meds arent working then again ask for them to be adjusted. Hardly anyone gets the right ones immediately.
If you want to go med free then you have to ask yourself are you strong enough mentally to enforce yourself to battle BP successfully. Battling this illness without meds is not impossible but as near to it as I can imagine.
Personally I dont think mentally you're strong enough because you arent even strong enough to make decisions on your own or see the world clearly BUT its YOUR choice.
I cannot make the decision for you. I can just tell you my experience. I hope that whatever you decide works out for you.
*HUGS*
No one can speak for you or your life other than you. Nothing we should be able to say would affect your decision one way or the other if you really felt like going off your meds is the right thing for you to do.
there are prescription med for weight loss.
ya, in BP we have a feel good entergy high then we start decending.
Just remember where you were w/o meds.
I will do just about anything to get and stay on my meds. I don't want to crash.
There are also meds that incress's the desire for relations.
Sounds like you might just need a med adjustment. your pdoc might try you on other meds until you find the right one for you. after you find right med for you.your pdoc may need to adjust the med.
You have came to right group. I welcome you aboard. your so not alone, we are here for you and Lord knows we understand all to will.
You know there are other ways to have relations other than intercourse.
Give in & give him a little once in awhile.
You were able to start school again and have been fairly successful at it. I think, from what you have previously posted, that your problems with your marriage run much deeper than just your sex life. You may benefit from marriage councelling and learning communication skills with your spouse. If your self esteem and your marriage is based solely on your weight and your sex life, then it is not a very stable relationship. Just my thoughts since you asked.
I hope whatever you decide, it works out for you. xo
On the flip side of the coin both my BP children and GF (who is also BP) at this moment are unmedicated. I would love for this to not be true especially where my oldest is concerned as she has some doozy manic episodes but all three of them are adults and I can't make that call for them.
I don't advocate anyone going off their meds. We all know what comes of that and whether its 3 days or 6 months in the end we crash and we crash hard usually. Best of luck BPP which ever you decide to do.
I wish I could be free of meds too. I think BP gets more resistant to treatment when a person goes on and off meds.
Really, to be free of it all for six months.
Your choice, friend.
No judgment from your peeps.
