I know that this topic may sound paranoid, BUT I need to ask to keep me sane.

I have well water at home and our diswasher gets stained really bad. Well, my mother in law knows how bad I been feeling lately and gave her housekeeper money and gave me a present and she cleaned today what I couldn't get to. Anyhow, I know the works should probably only be used on floors and in toilet bowls, but she used it on the dishwasher today when I tried using soap and other things to get the stain out before and failed miserably does anyone else have a dishwasher or use the works on it to get the stains out, or do they know if using the works on the inside of it is safe?

Use CLR it works like a dream. Removes clacium, lime, and rust stains.

princess I don't know what "works" is, so I'm a little confused. Is your dishwasher stained because of the iron in your water? Is it an orange color?

works is the cleaning agent "The Works." And fazer, I wish I could take some of my mother in law's kindness and send it on over to you =) And Super, thanks for the comment. The CLR is safe on dishwashers right? Remember, I am BP, so I am blaming this all on my BP! lol

And arlene yeah it's kind of a orangish brown color I live in the boonies and this house has old pipes and no city water, then again I should be thankful that our water doesn't have any chlorine in it. Amen to no chlorine!

I just put vinegar in a mug of water and run it. Comes up lovely.

the works worked really well, no stains, but I am just afraid that it might be harmful to everyone's health around here. I know I am one of the biggest worry warts around, but I just wanted to ask about the safety of this cleaning agent to be safe...

Apple cider vinegar gives a nice fresh smell.

Thanks a lot suze. I will beg my husband to try to use this the next time. I am trying to search for a healthier alternative to the works. Those chemicals even a slow dose of them I am sure will be harsh. I just want to keep my family safe, I guess there's nothing wrong with that.

Apple Cider Vineger is the BOMB!
I use it every where...on the dog(always dilute it ,one capfull to,say 2 cups wate) for skin irrataions,I drink it w water for acid indigestion,in the dish washer,wipe your counters w it,and it deorderises,and kills germs.
Google Appel Cider vineger,there are thousands of uses for it.....Gramma was Right!

I would use things as layers, I would use CLR at least first, maybe twice. Then I would use bleach as a cleaning agent.

After that I would use vinegar (white) as a sanitizer, then run the dish machine last.

Get your manuel and see if any of these items hurt it, they shouldn't and see how you can dismantle the spraying units and cleaning them seperatly.

Check your lines too, they probably need to be changed.

You can put filters on your water before it goes into the dishwasher. That would help in the future, you will just have to clean the filter often.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper?
