Is anyone starting to draw away from new friends because you're afraid of hurting them with your swings?

I'm more likely to draw away from people to protect myself from entanglements.

I draw away from people when I get paranoid. Then it just makes me look like a freak.

Yes!..I really don't have friends that I see in person. I just have one really good phone friend. She happens to be a psych nurse who suffers from BP II.

I struck gold with her. I ment her online in the platonic section of Craigslist. This was over 10 years ago!!! We talked almost every day..at least every week! She is very nice, and supportive. She does sometimes set me straight on issues.

So lucky to have found her. We did meet once in person.

No, I can't say I withdraw from people. I feel I have a right to my swings as I have bipolar. So what? They will have to deal with it.

Being more aware of my illness I make sure I keep myself save first. When one is vulnerable people can take advantage.

I have totally withdrawn from making new friends. My episodes messed up old friendships. Basically I'm a recluse.
