If I go into the hospital how long will they keep me?
If I go I will lose the motel room I live in and will have
had no income while in the hospital, so I'll be homeless.
If I end up homeless will I be able to stay in the hospital?
I think about suicide all the time, I should be in the hospital,
but if they release me I know I'd kill myself, I can't face
homelessness on top of everything else. Do I just tell the
hospital staff that I'm dead if they release me and force
them to keep me? I have a feeling they put mentally ill people
out on the street quite often here.
So do I inch closer to suicide each day, or go to the hospital
and lose my home and income? Tough decision and it sucks.

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

I know that when i was hospitalized they gave me some papers for womens shelters.
and if you do get hospitalized, then YES tell them your gonna be in danger after release...they might help.
can you call the hospital and let them know your situation? That way you know what your working with?
BIG HUG of comfort to you, please dont hurt yourself
Tell her you need a shelter to go to on the day you are released.
She is supposed to ensure your health and safety through the treatment plan.
Bring this information up again during treatment team with your psychiatrist, social worker, ptherapist, etc.
the more people involved in your treatment and after care the better for you.
You may have to stay on them to find you a shelter, half-way house, etc. but they will do it (squeeky wheel gets the oil)
Just the fact you are concerned about your after care tells me you are ready for change!!! SO happy for you!!
I think living in a halfway house or shelter would be more depressing than living in this motel room, if I'm suicidal now I'd be dead if I got sent to a shelter. Maybe I should forget it all and just end things peacefully.
The reason I want to go to the hospital is so I will have someone taking care of me, I couldn't stand being sent to a shelter,
hospital.
give tomorrow's `heretic' a shot at quality.
In a half way house or treatment center you will be around people that will help lift your spirits. I know it seens like a risk to go to the hospital. But I think that you will come out a better person on the other side.
Some homeless coalitions actually rent hotels for shelter.
Make that your request.
I think going into the hospital is the best option at this time.
Please make that call.
i once lived in a motel and i considered myself homeless. if i compare the hospitals to the motel.. the only difference was the diet at the hospital gave me orange juice and vegetables.. i dont know about your motel experience, but i wasnt ordering room service.
if the hospital is a thought, i say stop wondering about the what ifs and go.
For what its worth, I think you will be in a worse place afterwards if you go to the hospital and lose your home.
Only rich people get nice hospitals.
During one of my visits last year there was a bipolar woman there that had been living in her car. The hospital social worker found her a shelter to stay in and mental health care once she got out. They held her at the hospital 3 weeks until the bed at the shelter openned up.
