LOL this week it has been a huge fucking issue has I have been given meds I am allergic to, quaduple doses of meds, told that the anerysims were my fault ect and all by doctors who yes english is not their native language. I am not racist not even close. My heart doctor was european and he was fantastic. But Doc # 1 and Doc #3 both Middle Eastern and I cant help but think had they been able to speak better english that perhaps some of these errors might have not happened. Having said that tho I had one heart doctor few years back that was middle eastern and he was probably the best dam doctor I have ever had so perhaps not being able to speak very good english as nothing to do with it and these two yahoos just shouldnt be doctors period

i had a doctor back in 03 who I couldnt understand for the life of me. It made me depressed just by trying to describe what was going on with me to him. I would leave his office irritated and pissed. Not a good thing for a beeper

The biggest problem I have had with doctors are the ones that do not listen. Most of the guilty ones were English. The last Pakistani doctor was very nice and did listen. I'd prefer to see him over some of the other doctors in the surgery. Bren :)

For example, me telling a woman "Mamacita rica" doesn't mean that I have a Edip's complex as an English speaker may think.

I can handle foreign drs as long as Im not depressed.
Cant decipher much of any thing. My brain just doesnt work well.

I had an American doctor that got his training in Guatemala. Asshole didn't treat my daughter's bronchitis at all and said it would go away on its own. Funny, a year later she was in the PICU with pneumonia. Had the bronchitis been treated she might not have gotten as sick (as said by a doctor at Children's Hospital)

My former OB was Greek. His Englis was broken but mostly understandable. Only reason I'm not a patient of his anymore is because he moved.

Did have a Middle Eastern doctor for a specialist. Guy was an idiot. One of those that shouldn't be doctors. English was ok but he didn't know what he was even looking for and couldn't treat my symptoms

There are only a few english-speaking doctors that I've had or have now, that actually take time to listen to me, and have treated me with respect. However, most of the doctors I've had who don't use english as their main language have listened to me, made it a point to repeat and write down what I'm saying, in order to make sure they understand me, and they aren't condescending toward me. But, everyone's experience is different, I suppose.
