I don't know. I really should have gotten a lawyer but I just never did because I was too ill then when I did start too feel better my mom got ill so I never got one.

I could try to get one now maybe but I don't think any lawyers will take me because there just isn't enough time. I really need this though I'm worried I won't get it. I'm so scared I'll lose every thing again. I just can't do it, my heart can't take it any more, I'm too old to be losing every thing again. I remember the living hell being homeless was like.

just every one pray or keep your fingers crossed or what ever you do that helps :) I really need it.

Keep bumping this up until you get some answers. I know I've seen people post here about going before the judge and getting their claim granted.

My sister went for SSI and was rejected for years. She appealed it everytime....and she did not get it until she had legal counsel.

I don't think it's too late to seek legal counsel (although I don't know when your court date is).

Many members of my community love their disability and most of them are happy on it.

Just make sure to have a good support system and live in a low crime area. I don't care how smart a person is or how together-that simple rule is so important.

thanks every one. I think I will get a lawyer if I can. It's gonna be a scramble but I will call my case worker too and see if she can help me and has any advice.

I know there are advocates out there as well as lawyers. The DBSA chapter near my house always recommends one place called Lanigan (?). I hope you can find something too.

if you have all the documents from your doctors etc the lawyer shouldn't be too much of a problem with the short notice

I'm sorry-I didn't read this well enough. I'm not sure, except to say have all documents ready and get with the lawyer and be well dressed and just together.

Again, I apologize. I'm really tired, so I get stupid when I'm tired.

I called my case worker and she told me not to get a lawyer at this point they won't make enough of a difference this late in the game and they will just take 25% of my back payments. Which they won't get any way because I have student loans that I defaulted on so the government will take it first.

Any how I'm very concerned with what will happen with this hearing. I want to win but I have no documentation and honestly I'm not sure I can get sufficient documentation in time. Besides I've already seen what they have and they do pretty much have everything all the way to December but I might have to get anything after that.

If you are awarded SSD the feds do not take out for back student loans - I know this from experience tho unsure about if you recieve SSI
