I have it myself and on my med info sheet from the pharmacy my med should help with this symptom.I take lithium and it has helped a little.
I asked my pdoc for med help and she said with her 25 yrs exp that my only other option was xanax wich I take.
Paxil is used for social anxiety but she feels it is to risky for someone with bp for fear of trigering mania as well as Prozac.
I've gotten a lot of healing. My isolation now only comes from not being my size 3 bikini material body I am working on so I don't have to be alone so much.
Some of my meds should help with this and I often take lorazepam when I know I'm going to have to be in a social situation, but the main way we're treating it is through therapy, and I do feel I'm starting to make some progress, I mean even signing up for the voluntary work was a big step for me.
So yes mention it to pdoc, but also bring it up with your therapist, much better to learn to deal with it yourself IMHO without having to rely on drugs. Good luck and remember you are not alone with this one by a long shot

Then I decided I was sick of being scared and offered to present a small portion on the last day. I got so nervous I was shaking like a leaf and my voice was quivering. But I'm proud of myself for finishing it and holding my head high even though I totally sucked at it. Part of me still can't believe I did that with the anxiety I have around social gatherings.
Then I go to my family and I have a sister-in-law with 4 years sobriety. She is always trying to talk about AA with me yet I don't bite. I ignore her to no end. It is so weird. A topic I can talk about until hell freezes me is now frozen over.
Same thing at work. I listen then say nothing, nada, zip!
