Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.

I went to see a new ENT today who was recommended by my Pain Management doctor. I told him I had dizziness, light headedness, fainting spells, etc... He said it wasn't my inner ears and that I probably have Presyncope due to my low blood pressure, low sodium and possibly low sugar. He also said my Anemia doesn't help. THEN, he throws in that part of it may be caused by my depression! I am so tired of doctors blaming everything on my depression and Fibromyalgia. Thank you for letting me vent.

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...

Hey All...I hope that you have a lovely, peaceful beginning of your weekI have a bunch of chores that need doing but may put them off til tomorrow and just hang out with my landlord/roomie todayWhat about you?...Anything special going on?Have a great day and take good care of you!!..Xo
Sadly, there was a time Fibromyalgia was thought to be "all in the 'patients' heads!" I heard it time after time when I worked for at a medical center. Geesh to highbs! Psychological problems cause many physiological problems certainly, but I also agree with you that it seems sometimes "convenient" as a "go to diagnosis."
You're in my thoughts every day. XO
Okay so he didn't say that this was all in your head or that it was a symptom of your Depression. He said that the Depression may be a "part" of it. Because Depression does cause physical symptoms in many people. We've gotten ourselves so conditioned to be offended at the drop of a hat when a Dr. mentions that our mental illness might play a part in our physical illness that we don't listen to our Dr.'s. There are many things that can cause fainting spells, and you've been seeing Dr.'s that have been ruling out 1 thing after another, but if you're not willing to listen to their comments on the diagnosis, then why even waste the time going to them? Mental Illness can affect physical health.
As for Fibro, there still really isn't a set diagnostic tool to DX it and alot of symptoms in people get told they have Fibro because Dr.'s don't know what else to call it. This is how diseases and symptoms and the Diagnoses of those diseases come about.,
I am so sorry you're tired of them... feeling frustrated like that can make us miserable. I hope things improve.
It doesn't sound like the doctor blamed your depression, but stated that it could be a factor. I, too, get frustrated when doctors use my bipolar diagnosis as an excuse. I was accused of getting drunk and mixing my meds with the alcohol when I had half a drink and I actually experienced a horrible complex migraine having nothing to do with the half drink I had at dinner or my meds. That was the worst ever especially when 3 doctors concurred and I tested negative for alcohol when they did the tox screen blood work! It wasn't until the psychiatrist looked at the meds, the ER test results, and the discharge summaries that I was taken seriously. He had never heard of such a reaction and then went on to look to see there was never any sort of documentation of any reaction with the medications I was on that matched my experience.
I guess my point is that yes, illnesses can be used as excuses for not looking into a deeper cause of a health issue; however, it doesn't mean that is the case in every situation. This is a legitimate case where mental illness can physically manifest though as it has for me. Sorry that you are experiencing dizziness though. It sucks!
I am so sorry that you are going through so much sweetie..... Another hug and a blessing.....xo
Then if you are seeing a new doctor, their basic strategy is to do a process of elimination. They rule out all the things you don't have to figure out what you DO have to treat it.
It's a slow frustrating process.
I wish you (as always) the very best!
I'm so sorry about how frustrated you must feel. Doctors are exhausting!!
