Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
It's kinda a backwards thought..but is she using your illness against you?
Definately some cousuling needed....a 36 yr old who doesn't drive?Almost unheard of,unless you live in NY City
Seems like that might be the case here..kills brain cells too.
Good Luck
It can be a behavioral intervention. Her choices and actions are having a negative effect on the whole family...at least thats what it sounds like.
When did this behavior start.
She has a gym membership which she went to occasionally but no change in her body or eating habits to justify the cost... he now cancelled the membership and put in a home gym... she has no friends, she does see her brother and his family, her mom and other family live in another province... she has no interest in getting any part time work ...
He is as exasperated as you sound... it is affecting him since when he gets home he has to do everything... arrange a social life, even fix up the home, she makes no effort to do anything... he has buddies on the ship that have wives that are home but when they get back everything is done for them... any painting, wallpaper for rooms, place is spotless, they have no stress and return from their time feeling pretty good.... he feels he has a parent/child relationship...all decisions he has to make...
Its not good for his child either... he is supposed to have help socializing since this is one aspect of his condition that needs to be fostered... he has no friends over from school and with his mothers isolation he has not developed any with their friends kids... she has not be dx'd with anything to validate her behavior....
My advice to you would be to get a lawyer, file for a trial separation and if things do not get better within a time frame you can live with.. move on and do what is best for you and him..... and maybe you can stop working the extra time and enjoy life a little more... ((hugs)) polar
