Not just gifts bought but emotionally. I want to avoid the world on christmas day and just avoid everyone and everything I hate hustleing around all day visiting people and dinner and all that pain in the ass stuff.

I used to work every xmas till disability and it was just another day now people expect you to be socialable bah humbug.

How do I politly tell people to leave me alone or should I just ignore and lie to them

I have all the gifts purchased. Got my kids lined up for Christmas Day aaaannnd as of an hour ago I lined up company of friends for Christmas Eve. Wasn't looking forward to climbing the walls all night. I'm set. Will deal with the shitload of auditory hallucinations that accompany holidays at a later point :o)

i think i am ready-this year it will just be me an my husband so that should be alright. but i have learned with getting together with family-if they start to bother you, just go into another room for a bit. take a breather. it works for me. and you don't have to explain anything to anybody. none of there business. good luck.

I haven't bought anything except for a nephew. I did a few cards. I'm actually looking forward to seeing my family, so you know I'm lonely :) Actually they're not that bad, they're just not the most fun people to walk the earth (cept my bro)

I totally understand where you are coming from. I would like to celebrate the birth of Christ in a solemn way all by myself. No commercialized Christmas. Don't want to be around other people's family or friends. Don't want to act like I am happy when I am not. I hate this time of year. I wish my parents and brother lived closer.

Put on a perma-smile for the day and hope it goes by quickly. That's what I plan on doing. Good luck, Christie
