I don't think that you should fear it. But just do what you can to minimize the chances and possibly put together a plan if something should happen. I don't know if this would be appropriate, but would a medical bracelet be applicable? Regardless, it will do no good to fear this. Hope this helps a bit.

hmmm....I think what's "worse" is how severe your episodes are, either one. In my experience, and what I've been told, it is more of a tendancy for women to self-harm, and for men to lash out...when mental illness is involved, I would guess it depends more on the individuals basic personality traits to begin with. More women than men are schizophrenic, so that might scew the stats on that. I think the most important thing is, to learn where that threshold is for you, when things are gettng worse, and to jump on it before it gets out of control.

Schizophrenics are psychotic without meds. If you are bipolar and have a psychotic break then you are just experiencing psychosis, which is what a Schizophrenic person would most of the time be in without meds. Bipolar people are not typically psychotic most of the time unless they are manic. Schizoaffective BP type would have symptoms of both Schizophrenia and BP

Schizophrenia acts much like BP episodically, though, amal. And the severity level can be mild - severe. Not everyone with schizophrenia is psychotic without their meds. Some people experience a single episode, and never have another one.

Having a psychotic episode is the worse thing I have ever experienced. Seeing things, hearing them talk, heart racing, sweating, thinking your going to die....Thank whomevers God for anti-psychotics.
Psychotic episodes are horrendous. Seeing Satan, angels, demons, etc......not fun shit....some people are just psychotic and always see things...It is the inner most part of the brain kinking up and going haywire propelling deep inner most fears or anxieties and placing them into reality. For me at the time I was religious manic so I saw demons, Angels, and Satan as he actually was talking to me. The worst night of my life! Just woke up in the middle of the night once to a psychotic episode....Jacked up my version of religion ever since. Schizophrenics and bi-polars have what is called sister diseases. They mimic one another alot. Just pchizos deal with a much worse distortion of reality. It all sucks!

i don't know what is worse since i only have schizoaffective disorder. my psychosis has been more of a paranoia, hallucinations and homicidal thoughts. this article describes me to a T, except for the fact of the religious part. it says it can be treated effectively and have recovery. in my lifetime it has waxed and waned only to reappear at another time. right now i am doing ok. catherine has been quiet and the anxiety has decreased. we will see what happens now that joe and kidlet will be back to work/school after 3 weeks of having one of them here. no, i am not projecting, just thinking logically.

with schizophrenics you notice psychosis alot better then you do someone with bipoar who is in a state of psychosis. A bipolar person can hide it better then a schizophrenic since we are so back and forth. I think the fear of a psychotic break is always there. You say you have psychotic tendencies... Does that mean that you have been psychotic or have you just had alot of paranoia?
