Pregnancy and meds

Anyone taken their meds during pregnancy? I went off them to get pregnant with doctor's advisement. I had a manic episode while we were trying to get pregnant so I decided we'd stop trying and I'd go back on my meds.  Then, oops I got pregnant.  So I'm off my meds again and very depressed.

I am pregnant and my Dr said no meds. It has been a rough road but you gotta do what you got to do. Depression is major problem for me also. Namaste Pema

Sorry to hear. You could ask the doctor about light therapy as an antidepressant, but it could put you into hypomania or mania depending if you have BP 1 or BP 2…… I don't know of any natural mood stabilizers. Exercise can also help depression. Best wishes. Love your avatar photo – cute dog!

I took my meds during my 2nd pregnancy. But it depends on what meds you're on and it depends on how willing your OB/GYN is to work with your Pdoc, because they have to work pretty close together. Not all meds are safe to take during pregnancy but some are.

With my 1st I panicked and quit everything cold turkey. I suffered extreme postpartum depression. I had no support I fully intended to end my life, but was also convinced my baby needed to be breastfed for 6 months. By that time i was well enough to get help.

With my 2nd I took meds monitored by my doctor and did not have postpartum depression problems.

Both my kids are fine.

Whether or not you take meds, keep a watch on yourself after. Make sure you have support to keep an eye out. Work with your doctor. Best of luck.

    I've been on high dose prednisone for pneumonia, and now I am slowly weaning. But lots of symptoms I don't like having, plus overeating has put at least 10 lbs on me. The food is "loud" as the GLP-1 users refer to it.Also pressured speech. Which comes out in my posts. Sorry I posted so much. I just need an outlet for my agitated and irritable brain. Just scroll on by my posts, if they are too...
