He wished he didnt have to even lock his bike up, then he could just run down the three flights of stairs and out the double steel doors and hop on, wisk away, and peddle for his life. For, that is what he has to do anyway: peddle for his life - every day
Shortcuts and miss-directions, all tricks in his arsenal, yet, they work only for a while. Eventually they are discovered and close encounters occur, occur too often. One of these days he will get caught. One of these days is a possibility every day every day.
But, time comes and goes and the little bike has come and gone. Rusted and discarded, the terror of the bike rack has disappeared. But, danger is still about, especially now when no ride has come for him. No ride has come today. There was supposed to be a ride for him today, actually, every day every day."
