Princess,when in a dysphoric hypomanic,or mildly manic episode..paranoia is very common in BP people.

It could be your bipolar making you think this way.Anti-phycotic meds will usually fix this manifestation.

To be shizoeffective,there has to be other manifestations,like you don\'t communicate or relate well with other people.You may dress or have a haphazzard look about you.
And hallusinations are present.

I can\'t DX you,but if I were you,I sit down with my Pdoc and get serious in a discussion as to what your DX is.

How do you know it\'s not the bipolar talking? I get fears like that too, and have been utterly convinced - it\'s psychosis and delusion, bipolar 1 symptoms. Is there anyone there to calm you and talk with you?
Antipsychotics are used in bipolar disorder and schizophrenia - are they the drugs your pdoc was talking about?

Yes those are the drugs that my pdoc was talking about. I take 180 mg of Geodon a day......and today in the middle of the day I had the fears and got up and locked my front door. I never usually have these fears during the day they\'re usually during the night that I get that paranoid

My question would be= since you\'re already on meds for bp/schizoaff. Then if you *were* to get a dx for schizoaff, what would it change?

Have you been sleeping ok? Stressed out? Sorry you\'re having to deal with this during the day too. It\'s bad enough just to have it at night.

Yeah - but when you say you \'know full well\' the paranoia is not down to bipolar disorder - what do you mean?
Are you saying you think yourself that you\'re schizoaffective or schizophrenic? What symptoms do you have other than this paranoia (which can be explained by bipolar disorder?)

I think you should talk to your doctor about this - a med tweak might be all you need to make this horrible paranoia stop. x

I just had a med increase like last week because I was manic in her office. I will be seeing her in two weeks I guess I could call tomorrow and tell her the paranoia\'s back and see what she says.....I locked my doors today after I called to find out the difference between type 1 and type 2. And she said that type 1 is where you have psychosis and not type 2 so I was right. I am not sure if they wanna deal with me again......I dunno what she\'ll do she might just say wait it out.....I called and left a message and she won\'t get it until tomorrow since the office is closed right now. But just to let you all know I did call.
