My boyfriend has bpd. He recently decided to once again go off his meds. Despite all efforts, there is no reasoning with him. The meds are out of his system and all hell has broke loose. He is incredibly impulsive and so angry all the time! Daily, he wakes up yelling and cursing and punching walls. And it continues throughout the day. He is so mean. I try to explain how he makes me feel when he blows up and calls me names, etc. However, he says that I'm being dramatic or over reacting and becomes angry once again. If I cry, he really flips out. We have three children. They get so scared to see daddy act like this. I don't know how to explain it to them. I don't want them to think his behavior is okay. I'm pregnant. The last time he went xoff meds was when I was preg with our youngest., 2 years ago. It was awful. He became physically abusive. I'm terrified that he will escalate again. I coped with the abuse before bc I was scared what might happen to him if I left and what he might do to me if I left. When our daughter was born, he decided it was time for meds. We've had a few rogh patches but he's been the sweet and caring man I adore, until now. I don't know how to get through to him. I don't know how to cope with this again and again. Pls help. I love him so much. And I know he is struggling. He doesn't want to be this way. How do I help him and protect myself andour childrrn at the same time?

There is no "dump the chump" logic in this.
The hardest part of loving someone is leaving them room to walk their own path. Triple true when their path is strewn with violent land mines. When someone I love is in episode, I resist the urge to put on a doctor coat or care taker scrubs. I focus on keeping myself healthy that I can be there for them after they figure it out for themselves.
Stay safe.
As a child I was not only afraid of my father but angry with my mother because she did not protect us better. My view of her lessened as she continued to choose my father over protecting us.
As a wife, I now understand it isn't easy just to walk away especially when you have children that love their father.
I still take some things from my feelings as a child. I will not let my children be afraid. If he were to ever be violent with me or the children I would have to get distance between us even if it meant giving up many things in my current life.
I realize I can live without a big home, a nice car, and so on, but I can not live in fear.
My husband is not violent but he is in need of medication. I have distanced myself from him in the home while continuing to make the kids lives as normal as possible.
The distance has brought about a desire within him to seek out treatment. We are in the middle of recovery.
