We have 3 dogs in our household .
A Pomerainian....yappy and food aggressive
A Boston Bull Terrier...swet, does not bark much, very mellow....they do not tolerate heat well
A White West Hihland terrier...she is the most obedient , but to say hello , she tends to snap at peoples fingers...she does stop doing this when told NO

A Lab is a great dog, but they stay babies for a long time and can chew things up...but a Lab is a great choice.

I have a wee mixed breed.... I love dogs... They are like having a child though re that you have to be there for them..

I moved in with a roommate/landlord about a year ago and he has an older cat that's temperamental and my dog isn't at all alpha so we just kept an eye on them for a while and they're great now however they'll never play together but they co exist without any problems

I would look up the type of dog that you're interested in and see what the needs of the breed are...

For instance some breeds aren't good with children and some need a lot of exercise... I would look to see that the type of dog you choose suits your lifestyle

i think golden retrievers and labs are the breeds with the best temperament of any dog, but i think you're right to rescue a dog from a shelter.

usually, the shelter's will allow an adoptee to go for a walk first with the perspective owners. so you'll be able to tell how well trained the dogs are. that's my advise. it will tell you a lot about a dog's personality.

I have a maltipoo. She is a dream dog. She only barks if she hears something outside, the sweetest temperament , great with children, easy to train. I don't have a negative thing to say about her. I think that's great you want a rescue dog! Oh she doesn't shed either.

Labs are wonderful. They love to love you and obey you. They do like to chew, but when I had my puppy lab we gave him a lot of chew toys and the only thing he ever chewed of mine was a leather sandal I left out. You just have to be sure to put things away. They can't help it if they chew your stuff if you leave it out. (any dog is like this) Labs are easy to train. Mine was going to the door to go out after I had him for 2 days. Of course, he still had accidents, but potty trained easily. Just be sure if you get a puppy to socialize it with other dogs and people and then they won't be mean.

I have a Chihuahua mixed with Russell Terrier. You will hear negative and positive things about any breed.

I read that when looking to buy a dog, the one that pops out at you is the one for you. That was the case with our dog. We were looking to buy a Miniature Pinscher at the pet store but this little black pup caught our eye and it was love at first sight! We've now had her for 7 years and love her to bits.

There was a 2 yr old shih tzu at the humane society when we went about a month ago. She'd been abused by her previous owner. She wasn't ready for adoption yet. She was adopted since then which makes me happy because I really wanted her to find a good home.

We didn't fill out adoption papers for her at the time because honestly every time I make a spur of the moment decision like that I'm afraid it's the bi polar talking and I'm in a " high".

I discussed that over with my t doc and she said that wouldn't have been an impulsive crazy decision because my boyfriend and I had done our research and discussed getting a dog multiple times. I hate questioning myself all the time but that comes with the territory for me.

God knows if I've had my fair share of mistake shopping sprees and purchases I couldn't afford when my mind wasn't right. Good to know a dog wouldn't be one of them :)

I'm with Dizzy. When you find one you will know at first sight. It took me all of five minutes when I laid eyes on my dog and I just knew...my heart starting beating hard!

I have four dogs. 2 Boxers and we just adopted one from the dog shelter he is skinny and needs some fating up some, but so far he has been a good dog he must have lived inside with him other home before he became a stray because the first day he went to our glass doors wanting to go out in the back yard. We also have a beagle mixed. She 7was found on the side of the road as a puppy and she's about 7.And we have a 13yr old Chihuahua. She's spoiled and set in her ways. She rules the the roost you might say.

I have a Puggle (beagle/pug mix) who we rescued at age 2. She's the sweetest dog I've ever had - she has a huge underbite that makes her look a little goofy most of the time but she's a hoot. Loves other dogs and cats, all people, kids, will get into the garbage (boo) but otherwise very well trained.

How I knew: I took one look at her as we were driving up to her foster home and literally jumped out of the car to greet her. She jumped up to greet me and gave me a big slurpy kiss on the cheek. It was love at first sight.

I suggest to accpt a puppy that people give away in front of r in wl mart parking lot. They mostly have kittens but I hav sen diff litters they all have smm healthy.
Mute's seem to live longer than pure breeds aand have fewer health issues.
Who ever told u that shi zu are mean. any abused dog r person can be moody. Dogs have 1 master that they adopt.. they will get along with others but they live to please their master.
It is how they are treated trained n raised makes the dog.
Dogs that you may want. go to book store r library and get book on what ever dog-s that you are interested in.

Dogs are very benifiual. I have 4. They keep me happy and active and gets me off my butt to go for daily walks. walks alos helps my mntal and physical health.
Now jack ruusel terry need a lot of room. they are very hyper. My neighbor has 2 she likes them being hyper. she says that they play together aan keep the other one out of trouble. Please do not get a large dog. most people don't have 5 ack's/farm.
I have small dogs because they picked mt them=n I pick them. I have small home n I'm not always up to gpoing for walk so I hhave a doggie door from hallway out on to deck.
Pugs are pretty. they have a look as to know it all, lol
