Any dog can be mean no matter the breed. With that being said any breed can be fantastic. Just remember to introduce your cat slowly to your new addition it may take time and you cat may learn to tolerate your new pet. Just remember to be patient. I have had a few different dogs in my time and yes all of them great. I have found that dogs,cats and horses have been a great part of my therapy for myself. I have a boxer blue heeler he is an awesome dog but if left alone for too long he tears stuff up and tries to get into people's food and ls very sweet but can be aggressive or too rough when you play with him but I just tell him to calm down he can be stubborn with commands but loves people he is 4 and my dad has a dog that is a chocolate lab terrier mix and she is very smart and my sister has a cat they all seem to get along great tho

I have a beautiful little Yorkie who is spoiled rotten and the love of my life. He loves people but he does not like small children who man handle him, he will just go and find a adult or hide. I think he's the sweetest and smart little boy ever, but I could a little biased. Lol

He just loves m to much. He;s my lap dog n goes every where with me . when I on't take him with m, he would eat the arm out of sofa ( he did do that ).
My femal dog howls when I leave and howls when she hears me returning. I on't dare to leav hr out of knnl whil Im out n about.

I didn't leave without my son. Store ownr said they can't let pt leave util they send in papers to AKC and breeder. only afterward could they release a pet. LOL a hundred $ by passing cash register, into owner pocket. will I didn't half to wait to bring my son home within same day n within same hour that we laid ys on each other.

i currently have 2 chihuahuas that i don't know what i would do without. i can't imagine my life without a dog in it...unconditional love and all that. over the years i have had beagles, shit zus, a samoyed, a husky, several mutts, a schnauzer...lots of dogs...and cats too. i have never had a mean dog, i believe they respond to how they are treated. i have had some dumb dogs and i greatly prefer the smart ones, but i loved them all. i love shelter dogs, but i have also bought from breeders...just be careful with a breeder to make sure they are family raised, not just stuck in a kennel.
there is no perfect dog for everyone, all dog breeds have bad traits which is why mutts are sometimes preferable.
frankly i choose my dogs by falling in love with them. this is not a long process (maybe 5 minutes for me). i just hold them and see how they react to me and how i react to them and i know if they are right for me or not.
with a shelter dog you want to get as much of their history as possible...you don't want a dog that was given up because it bit someone, or ate the cat lol.
my cats, even the old ones, adapted to the dogs...some learned to love the interlopers, others to tolerate, and still others to ignore them. go with your heart and your gut. hugs and puppy kisses

I did rescue for about 10 years and had many different breeds and mixes in my home that whole time. They are like people - every one has a personality and is DIFFERENT. So don't go by breed. I have a 2 year old German Shepherd now, we got her as a puppy, and had two German Shepherd before her that I adopted as adults from shelters. They all had different quirks. Argos was very mellow and liked to lay around all day with his stuffed duck. Della was very anxious around other dogs and didn't like to be petted. Phoebe is the sweetest, goofiest dog I have ever had, but she's terrible about cats. I raised her from 8 weeks old, and we have a cat, and we worked on socializing her with him but I definitely don't trust her not to chase a cat.

Right now I want a Welsh Corgi or a Jack Russel Terrier. When I have my own place with a lot of yard space I'll get a Golden Retriever and maybe a Labrador.

I have a black lab and golden retriever mix. They love my cat and even sleep wit her!

I have a staffie who is five months old now & he has been very easy to train. He never begs for food, jumps up at people, goes on furniture etc. I take him to puppy socialisation classes & obedience classes & he is very responsive to them. He just loves everyone & everything. Very loyal & loving breed.

You can look up any breed you're interested in and find out the pros & cons of each breed. It's SOOOO helpful. It was there that I decided a Dobie would be a good breed for me.

And yes, I have a dog...Sparky...a Malti-Poo, who was my MIL's dog. When she got sick she couldn't take care of him. If I had my choice I would get more dobies!
