I thought this might be a possible trigger since in some ways it does trigger me with how people have treated me in the past for having bi polar.

Thought I'd clear that up.

Once the courts get involved when someone has been extremely ill it takes a long time usually for them to either discharge you (if you've had charges against you) or decide you know longer need to be followed by medical professionals.. They cover their butts as well as try and protect the well being of the person concerned...
She has a lot to lose and could easily be manipulated when ill.. Sad but true...x

I look at this more as a safety maneuver than as exploitation of her condition. Let's face it, we're dealing with mega bucks and, I'm sure, a lot of cunning people try to take advantage of her all the time. The conservatorship just seems like an extra layer of protection.

I think the media is trying very hard to make something of nothing. Notice how it hasn't gained much traction. You don't see folks sporting "Free Britney" t-shirts.

I honestly think it has a lot to do with the 'system' protecting itself .. If she's discharged and becomes ill anytime soon.. makes terrible decisions due to the illness.. It will come back to bite them big time..
She would have the best legal team going after the courts.. I don't think they'll take the chance.. There's toooooo much at risk...

I know my daughter is a social worker and she has to apprehend kids all the time - but usually the "bad decision-making" is caused by FAS in the parents - Low functioning.

Sounds like a scam to get her money, I agree PirateJack. I mean, compete to take the stress of performing, but not for looking out for her own money. I hope she has a good lawyer and pdoc.

However the main evidence was her desire to release a new single "Ooobloota" which consisted of her banging on a waste paper basket while shouting "suck my toe it tastes of tangerines!!!" as a 7 inch single.

Most of the time I do ok (since medication)..... but recently I had the great idea to cut my anti psychotics in half..... I thought I was justified because I was feeling really flat and had been for months..... so cut them in half I did. Two weeks later I was manic and had maxed out a credit card buying new sex toys, a juicer, lots of pizza, a new vaccuum (my old vaccuum is fine), 20 packages of gourmet sausage from Louisana, organic dark chocolate (10 large bars), a sapphire ring, and I stocked up on enough kcups to last me 2 years, and more...... I did all of this in 3 days. Real bummer because it took me 2 years to pay off this credit card. Yes it is completely my fault but at times I do wish someone was looking out for me.

Well I've made unsound decisions and wish I had some one helping me. But on the other hand I want my freedom and to protect myself.

I felt ripped off. I was so sick I would have agreed to almost anything. I've been taken advantage of a lot when ill. I'm tired of it.

It's hard to know who to trust.

Would assume that such a trust is in her best interests. At least it means financial dealings are transparent..

there are a lot of individuals with severe mental illness who are unable to comprehend (as part of their illness) that they are unwell- I'm guessing such a trust makes it easier to enforce a person to stick with treatment.
