Black widows are very shy. If you take a stick and pull her web and egg sack - very gently and slowly - she will supervise the operations as far from your big, clumsy hand as she can get. She has nothing to gain from biting you, so a modicum of respect is all you need for your own safety.

Now, let her ride on the end of the stick while you carry the better location. Set the stick in a shady spot and walk away.

I would start with a photo shoot. Black Widows are elegant ladies.

If one is to practice anthropomorphism and ascribe the attribute of shyness to a Black Widow, I suppose one must conclude that Black Widows are also very rude to enter a home uninvited.

I say Trap (with the glass jar), Trot (to a distance far from your home) and Turn 'Em Loose!

I understand respecting life but any life that could make me sick or potentially kill me has to go. And a black widow does not belong in or near any human beings house.

I kill all my spiders because I'm terrified of the brown recluse a spider that has a nasty bite, and I can't see rescuing a black widow either.

I was not wearing my glasses this morning when I got on the puter. I mistook Arfie's reply for that of WW.

WW truly does not have a clue about spider relocation techniques. I should be more compassionate...after all I did have to go to the university to learn how to deal with insects and arachnids.

I now must retract my rude reply and shove it back where it came from.

UPDATE: I don't believe the relocation was successful. After trying several suggestions from here( that fail because every time I got close she hide inside the Aluminium siding LOL).

I tried a method I found on the web using a household vacuum( you remove all filters and such so you have just the empty cup. Unfortunately I don't think I was able to turn the vacuum off quickly enough and think even though the cup was empty, I believe she sustained fatal injuries from being bounce around too much. :(
