I understand wanting to save her but I have a deathly fear of spiders and got God awful sick due to a Black Widow - perhpas just relocate her and not the egg sack? Or is that truly heartless?

punch holes in lid of jar.

capture---use a piece of 8.5 x 11" paper to guide her into a jar.

put lid on jar.

find a woodsy area or overgrown area away from people to release her.

OR--save her for a pet. I used to do that with scorpions.

Also get some hedge apples place in house she wont be coming in they hate them

A traveler is crossing the countryside and his path takes him through the mountains. As he climbs higher and higher, the temperature continues to drop until it is quite cold. As he continues, he comes across a snake in the path.

"Please" says the snake, "Would you carry me to the other side? It is cold and I can't make it, and I might die without your help." Taking pity on the snake, the traveler picks him up and places him inside his shirt where he'll be warm.

Coming down the other side of the mountain, the temperature warms. Suddenly, the snake bites the traveler, who collapses and removes the snake from his shirt. As the snake's venom begins to work its way into the traveler, he asks the snake "Why, after I trusted and helped you, did you bite me?"

"I am a snake" the snake answers in reply, "and you knew what I was when you picked me up."

My BF had a Black Widow , he put it in a glass tank, with a screen top to it...he fed it fly's .....I insisted he destroy the egg sack, because we found the spider and egg sack under the bed , when we were moving it .

yep Belle that's why i sliced that little rattlesnake's head clean off who was near our little cabin up in the mountains.


and i felt not a bit of remorse.


no thanks, i'd rather live. but not being rude just saying, ah, i dunno - i really couldn't tolerate that right outside my door at our only source of water right where the hose was.

not that i'm into killing things, but i wouldn't mind killing a black widow either, there's plenty of them in the world.

If you just want her and the egg sack to remain calm ect get the hedge apples - they repel the spiders and keep them out I guarantee it and are harmless to pets

Your right in the sense at she is what she is. All the more reason to relocate her. She is simply doing what black Widow's do, therefore is entitled to the same respect and right to live as you or I.

wiccan, i believe you are right... i just wouldn't know how to catch a rattler. and no one else was there, but yes. i believe you're right.

i also don't know if i could handle a widow. i'm kinda a scaredy cat with things sometimes.

I guess my thinking would be try the jar and the paper idea then go release her somewhere. I am not sure about how to do the egg sack. I do believe they are just doing what they do, but I also have been known to kill rattle snakes and other things that have been necessary. But only when necessary, I don't like to do it.
