Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.

I'm a mid-40's guy who looks for social interaction via social sites like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn. However without any REAL friends it's been only fueling my back and forth situation. I tend to be happy when I'm on these sites (and have friends that give me positive attention), but then when I get negative feedback/comments, I get frustrated and delete them and delete my accounts. Soon after doing so, I feel lonely again. I'm married but my relationship lacks good quality communication. I've been trying to delete and stay off these three social sites for good, over the past year and a half, but cannot do so. I keep going back. And the cycle keeps going. I used to have control of how I felt and felt stable. But ever since my wife and I had the twins (now 4, one's autistic), it's just been a back and forth trying to find a balance in my social and financial life - which is very deficient of REAL friends and slowly getting into more and more debt. I lost my best friend after getting married. He found someone and focused on her. The couple of friends I had at work, left, and I haven't been able to make any good bonding new ones. So I am dealing with feelings of depression most of the time and cycle between that and being ok. Add to this I have a hog sitting behind me at work who SHOULD NOT be here because she is from a different department! So I'm stressed about that and waiting for the day she moves back to HER area! Overall, I Just feel I have too much on my plate and it's hard for me to feel happy and stable so I'm constantly cycling through varous feelings trying to deal with them as well as life and responsibilities. I'm on here in hopes it might help by writing how I feel versus doing so on the social sites and not getting the right attention.

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...

Hey All...I hope that you have a lovely, peaceful beginning of your weekI have a bunch of chores that need doing but may put them off til tomorrow and just hang out with my landlord/roomie todayWhat about you?...Anything special going on?Have a great day and take good care of you!!..Xo
Welcome and thanks for having the courage to talk about what is really going on in your life....not at all untypical of the times we live in. Stretched at home and at work sounds like you have little or no time to relax. The digital world gives us a chance to connect when time and travel won't allow it but it robs of of genuine interaction...
It's easier to cut and run than talking to someone face to face. But the real rub is that it is isolating and steals our time so it is difficult or impossible to change. I'm glad you took the time to risk a genuine post on how you really feel....I hope you come here often and risk making friends.
Are you taking meds or seeing a Therapist, have you been diagnosed as BiPolar? You seem to be more to the Depressed side instead of the Manic Side. You mentioned problems with your marriage, and since you know they're there, you could spend time working on communicating with your wife instead of the Social Media Sites. Do you spend time with your twins? Between work, home, toddler twins, you're carrying a heavy load.
As for deleting "friends" when they don't agree with you, or say something you don't like....the thing about Social Media and Support Groups is that they're designed to promote feedback from one person to another. Unfortunately its very hard for a computer to show emotion, so sometimes things are said and we take them the wrong way, or someone might give you answer or opinion that you don't like. Sometimes when we slow down and read some of the constructive criticism, we learn something about ourselves, or learn how to communicate differently. But you have to chill let them have their opinion, that's all it is "an opinion on Social Media", it can't hurt you unless you let it, just ignore the comment and carry on, that way you're not giving someone power to hurt or upset you.
Perhaps you and your wife could find a play group for toddlers and meet other parents, or a meetup group for parents of twins. Their are creative ways to get out and meet potential new friends.
Take care,
Kat
