I'm with you!!! Except, lucky for me, my kids start school on Aug. 26. Just 6 more days until I have to house to myself...I don't know what I'll do with myself to be honest.

I have less than 2 weeks before mine go back. since we all have our own computer i dont have the problem of getting it back. i at least gain back quiet time and time to do what i want when i want

I have to go back on the 1st and I'm freaking out! I"m not ready! I didn't get what I need done!

Two weeks tomorrow until my son goes back. I have a whole month to myself before I go back to school in October

My Nephews and nieces have been back in school since July. In Douglas County Colorado the elementary schools are year round so 9 weeks on, 3 weeks off. It is awesome. All the kids are on different tracks so we only have one kid out of school at a time except for Thanksgiving weekend and Christmas. So there is a lot of one on one time with the kids. It has worked so well for them all. I hope the rest of the nation would adopt the idea. Originally the idea came out of necessity, to many students and not enough classrooms. It created an environment where they could educate everyone, but in smaller classes with out the disruption of three months for summer break. The kids are less stressed at school, everything is broken down in blocks, 9 weeks of focus on subjects then 3 weeks of vacation with some homework. I really think it is helping them to learn better.

That is interesting Belinda. School started back here almost two weeks ago. My daughter is a senior this year. I'm so proud. ;)

Regina- what will you be studying?

I'm in my final year of a Criminal Psychology degree Harriet. I've loved every minute of it and can't wait to get back.

My four started back this morning. I was so excited I did not sleep again last night. I love them all but it's been one long summer...lol

Wow, very cool! What are you going to do with it when you are done? Become a criminal? haha! :-)

I really think every child would benefit from year round school. My niece came out here from Kansas, there she was at the top of her second grade class. When she started here she was at the bottom. She is catching up but it took several months. My oldest nephew was in school here since the second grade, he transferred to Denver Public Schools 3 months before the end of their school year and had to either be moved up a grade of sent back to Douglas County. He is 1 1/2 years ahead of the students in Denver. So he is back in Douglas, and getting a much better education.

I really do believe the system helps the kids learn better and retain the knowledge better. They don't have to spend the first several months of the new school year reviewing what the learned before summer break. Plus they have not lost a lot of the elective classes I remember having to take when I was in school. Like home ec., Spanish, music, phys ed. This semester the younger two are being introduced to Spanish. They really are getting a great and well rounded education.

Becoming a criminal sounds fun, I'd be able to convince them I was insane haha.
When I've finished I'm gonna study for another two years for my PhD so I can hopefully get a job as a psychologist in prison, helping profile prisoners and catch criminals etc. My dream job, but who knows?

Wow, that's cool it only takes 2 years more to get your phd?? It's probably gonna take me 7 (at least!!) to get mine in sociology! I should switch fields!
