I was talking to a normie today.....I had a meeting with a social worker and a guy from OVR. IF you don't know what OVR is.....it's Occupational Vocational Rehabilitation for people like us....They help you go to school if you can't afford to or they help you find work if you've been unsuccessful. Well....She had asked me how I have been doing, and I told her normal. I told her I was tired of feeling normal that I missed my crazy as I would call it.....I miss the ups and downs. I promptly told her the reason why I am getting help from OVR is the fact that I am a manic depressive.....she promptly told me that "US NORMIES have to create our happiness and sadness."

They have to create what comes naturally to us bipolars.....

Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

No, I didn't hit her.....I refrained.....I need the help to find a job...they are going to be putting me in a job placement soon and I get to do job tryouts where I get paid for 20 hours of work.....I guess it comes to about 700 dollars after the work minus the taxes....We need the money. So of course I was a good little girl.

I wasn't being serious of course princess! ha. It just shows how even people in the professions of helping the disabled can be so ignorant. Their training apparently is minimal and they don't bother with personal education. Very disappointing.

I agree with quakedup. I dont think she she was being ignorant or offensive. If someone said that to me Id take it as a compliment.

We refer to people who do not have any mental illness as normies, saners and them. So isnt it a double standard if we take offense to the not mentally ill refering to themselves the same way we refer to them.
She's also kinda right in what she was saying to. Someone who doesnt experience extreme highs and lows must do stuff and interact with others to get happy or sad whilst we dont need to do that.
Besides that it sounds to me like she was making light of the situation and isnt that a good thing rather than having one oif the dinosaur like stigma attitudes of being freaked out by Beepers and having absolutly no understanding at all.
I wouldnt take it to heart. Good luck with the job placment princess.

    My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper?
