Thank you for reading!
I had a manic episode this past fall and have since been diagnosed with Bi-Polar 1. I have an amazing therapist and psychiatrist but just feel like my life hasn't yet come back to normal (I was also going through a painful- still painful break-up at the time of the episode). I'm curious if anyone has words of wisdom around stabilization and feeling like yourself again.
I'm also curious if anyone has tips around how to manage the side effects from the meds. I went from being on nothing to 1250mg of Depakote (currently being switched to Lithium) and Risperidone. I've gained about twenty pounds and have had A LOT of hair loss. I find both of these very upsetting.
Any support is appreciated- thank you!

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

Hope you find what works...
((( You)))
I was diagnosed last September.
To me the diagnosis explained my entire life.
My moods and behavior.
Had only been treated for severe depression.
Hang in there while your PDoc and Therapist and YOU work together to get the right meds/dosages.
It's hit and miss for awhile.
Just keep an open dialogue about what is going on with your symptoms and make notes if you need to.
The stressers in life I think are one of our biggest obstacles with bp. My Buspar helps me through those (anxiety attacks).
Hang in there.
A lot of the ant psychotics have weight gain unfortunately as a side effect unfortunately ... It's a big struggle for me as well as
and some of them have hair loss
Google side effects of the meds you're on and if there are some effects like hair loss that are really upsetting to you discuss it with your doctor
Welcome!!
