Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
Hi all,
I was referred here yesterday by the 988 helpline as a resource for support and community in my struggle with Bipolar 2. I am in between waves at the moment—a little emotionally sensitive but not in crisis as I was yesterday. I am sure that the gray midwestern weather is not helping me out :)
I have never been a member of any type of support group before, so I wanted to ask you all how you best utilize this group as a tool for healing and community? I'm not sure if I should only be posting at times when I am in crisis, or if I am welcome to share thoughts and feelings and experiences at other times, too?
I have also joined a few other groups on here that relate to some of my other mental health struggles, but this is the first one I am attempting to interact with.
I appreciate that you're all here and I hope to positively contribute.

Here is my new brother, copper :) He's so tiny! Moo and Tuck were ok with him on first meeting. Rocket due to his severe aggression will never meet Cooper.

I've been a member of ds for about 15 years. The bp room can be slow sometimes, but just post what you like...you also have a journal to write in, this can be totally private or you can have it public/just friends you make on here...I'd suggest, 'just friends'. The message button you can reach out privately, and hugs will show up in your activity, and the other persons feed.
I'm glad you have found some other groups as well to join...we are all here to be accepted 'where we are at', be heard, and to help others when we are able.
Best of luck <3
will be a good way for people to get to know who you are, how you are managing - and how they can help you in your journey or learn from you!
We're in this together here! Peace and blessings!
I agree that the board is nowhere near as busy as it used to be but there are some great folks here
You can bring up topics you'd like to discuss when you want to
I tend to post when Im feeling upset or bothered by something
Other people journal daily
Sending hug and requesting friendship is a good way to get to know people...xo
There are some great folks here. Its the internet though, so best to be vigilant.
Welcome - and I wish you success in getting stronger and stronger managing.
I understand how you are feeling. I was upset when I first got diagnosed with BP2. But in time it has helped me a lot to understand myself better and learn how to be more kind and patient with myself. Having my diagnosis has made me a more self-aware and rational person. You don't have a formal diagnosis yet so don't despair too much, but just know that the knowledge of the disorder can be a very helpful and healing thing.
Could you be referred to a psychiatrist?
Even working with your family doctor can help you to get onto a med regime to combat symptoms
I can't afford therapy now either
Big hug
