Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
Only Best friends - and even then, not every time - can Know you well enough to know when to empathize, when to encourage, and when to just shut up and listen.

I wish I could do more, but I know you have a right to feel bad, with everything you have to deal with. Really, most people would have to Be in your shoes to realize what you need. I'm sorry she was not more supportive in the right way. :(
Do you think that they believe that you are delusional about these problems and that they can 'set you straight' about them?
I'm sorry that you weren't able to feel heard. And I'm sorry that you are having these problems, especially with your son. I hope that he can get some help!!! (((((Hugs)))))
I can't believe that EVERY normie would be that dense and/or uncaring.
Heck, I find myself doing that with my son who has BP. The thing I hate is when others say "there is NO reason to feel the way I do". They dont get that it is chemical and not situational. Even when it is situational, it effects us in such a different way, deeper, more emotionally, and it shuts us down.
Hang in there with her and try to "understand" her and where she is coming from too. Not now but maybe later when you can. Also, tell her how it makes you feel when she does that while you are feeling depressed. The only way she can ever relate is if you are open with her and you may have to be many times before she gets it....xo
Youve seemed to run into someone that really doesnt understand depression. A lot of people who have never experienced it, think it just means "extra sad" which simply isnt the case it goes so much deeper than that. But it is out of their experience range. I think also what really makes the difference is how open they keep their minds. If someone is open to understanding then well you can teach them what it means. But if they already think they know it. Forget it.
Thats with everyone though even us mental health patients.
That doesnt mean there arent others who DO understand. You just seem to have run into one of the ones who dont.
HannaHanna I am sorry you are feeling "poorly". Either way it is nice to "see" you.
