Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.

Example: I'm a heavy girl. My sis is heavy also. We've made judgements in the past about "fat people". So if we go out to eat and we catch someone staring, I'll go out of my way to make myself look like a complete fat slob.
I guess it's just the "you can't hurt me any more than I hurt myself" thing.
Yesterday at credit counselling course the presenter asked who has a credit card...all the hands went up. Then he asked who has 2 some hands went down. He went through 3,4,,5 and 6. Eventurally I was the only left wiith my hand still up. He then directed the next question at me by saying "what is your biggest problem with credit cards?". "My husband" I replied...the room broke out into hilarious laughter
What I still think is hilarious is that my 4 year old niece always always says, "I don't like Jesus." when you happen to mention him or church. She's not indoctrinated so she knows nothing about the man. She just had a bad experience at a Lutheran preschool and that's why she feels that way. I laugh my ass off every time she says it.
I have no-one left in my life except one friend who lives a long way away and we have phone calls here and there - but we do have a good laugh together. I have two psychologists (because I need that much support but also because they have different styles which I like). With both of them, we spend half the consult in hysterical laughter at the silliness of life, Policital Correctness gone mad, the silly side of mental illness and our own word plays. I get along so well with these gals and I'll miss them BIG when I move towns in a couple of weeks because of their profressionalism and care but also the mutual laughter which is just as effective as the formal therapy we do.
Geez I wish I could find some non-mental health friends with the same sense of humour and the ridiculous.
