Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
Do you just think it is irresponsible to not look after yourself when becoming unwell? I suppose what I mean is ignoring red flags and allowing yourself to be symptomatic to enjoy the high without assessing the consequences when you have the insight to do so? Once insight has gone its a little too late but in hindsight you could maybe have lessened the episode and the damage? And the distorted thinking would be a big one. I think I am becoming unwell again and I have made steps to look after myself but one of my main support people has been unavailable for weeks and I wonder how much that is affecting me. I am not looking after myself as well as I could. Is that just an excuse?

I'm feeling down,, and got alot on my mind right now. I got grief going on, on top my depression and anxiety and now I got to worry about somewhere to live since I can't afford living here since my mom passed. So many bad things have happened since my mom passed. One thing after another it seems. Yesterday our fence fell from a storm that hit, had to call someone to prop it up. Thank...
One of the big things unfortunately about having a mental health disorder is that it effects behaviour when we're sick and so it can take a toll not just on us but also on those who care about us
On top of that as time goes on and if we continue having episodes they get worse over time so it's a gift to ourselves to stay as stable as possible
There are some people who can cycle so quickly that they don't always have insight ... I'm really glad that I do
I think it's understandable that when you're not doing as well as you could be Rubes that you don't take great care of yourself... I think that happens with both physical and mental illnesses... We do the best that we can... Big hug for you sweetie...I'm sorry that you're struggling.... xo
I also wish you had more support in daily life. I think your wish to be on less meds is not unreasonable, but has to be handled with professional help and also requires some patience.
Even though you've veered towards some extremes lately, I want to give you credit for bringing yourself back from the edge each time.
I really wish you had consistent, available support. The person who has been unavailable for weeks needs to be replaced with someone more competent and professional. You deserve better!
But that is me. . .
Continued support while you sort your own, Ruby.
