Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.

I've written this post more times than I can remember..and then cancelled it.
After years of repeated hospitalizations...every treatment there was ( including successful ect)....
Some years ago, I found what worked for me to maintain relative stability. For me..it was...just enough Seroquel to avoid too much time of insomnia and not eating...and..keeping busy. Yep..that was it..my whole health program. If depressed...keep moving anyway..if manic..direct that energy to positive, productive things. This sounds like over-simplification, but , it's not. I maintained a pretty decent level of ( relative) stability for YEARS.
Almost four yrs ago...my health and pain issues became suddenly and severely disabling......forcing me into a very sedentary lifestyle.
Now..with being so inactive..having to stop my nightime seroquel...being sick..pain...opiates/muscle relaxer/prednisone...
My body is always on some level in fight or flight mode.
Needless to say..this has messed up my mental stability in a big way.
On the outside..I mostly maintain a demeanor of stability still.
On the inside...I feel in a constant state of crisis.
Pain tells me..run away! Somethings hurting..strike back!
BP says the same thing..louder ..and with more emphasis..:-) :-) :-)
I feel like a time bomb.
I don't know what the hell the point of posting all this is.
Except that keeping things to myself has always been a setup for self destruction for me. And, I LIKE being perceived as " normal".....
Which is a good reason for putting this here instead of the Chronic Pain board..'cause " normal" here is different.:-) :-) :-)
Sorry this is such a long..all-about-me ramble.
This time I'm not cancelling it.
I really need to take the mask off for a bit.

Here is my new brother, copper :) He's so tiny! Moo and Tuck were ok with him on first meeting. Rocket due to his severe aggression will never meet Cooper.

Said all that, and forgot the question..
Any tips for handling that crisis feeling while having to be sedentary..here's the catch..not meds?
( already on too many)
Hugs.....jc
You said not more meds but do you think an adjustment may help?
Some of the opiates can be lased with a lot of caffeine... I know Tylenol with codeine is.. not sure about others..
I was put on codeine alone after surgery due to how much the large amount of caffeine wound me up..
Maybe talking to someone on a crisis line may help.. Just venting and feeling supported can make a big difference.. Most of the calls to crisis centre's are not suicidal .. they're for the most part people needing support (I used to volunteer at one)
Gentle hug for you sweetie..xo
