For those of us who have a partner in life that can deal with us---we know we are blessed.

When I am in a good place---i like to make it good---doing the little things for my family---baking, cooking, just being there & being supportive. My husband & family mean the world to me. I don;t think I would have survived my illnesses as well as I have without them.

Great post Kev. This is coming from a caregiver and someone who has BP even though I don't like to admit it somedays..LOL

I told a friend yesterday when she asked me why somedays I deny having BP and I said when I look at you and when I look at J, I think hell I ain't crazy, I am the sane one in the bunch.

my husband has been with me for 10 years+. i have had two bad manic episodes, the first was when i was officially diagnosed, the second time, this past fall, i lost it. i filed for divorce, lived with another guy...then i started "coming down" and realized the horrible things i had done. I thought he was the bad guy and i was doing the right things, but when reality hit me, i was, am still am OVEWHELMED with guilt. I am back in our home. He has told me he doesnt think he can handle this the rest of his life-especially the divorce thing/living with that guy. i understand, but at the same time he FULLY understands bipolar and I want him to hang in there and stay with me. I love him so much, and he loves me too, but i had to quit my job as an RN in an emergency room, because I'm so depressed and anxious at the same time i cant think straight, i feared hurting a patient. I am totally dependent on my husband right now. He says he still wants to get a divorce, which frees him from financial/legal obligations, but that doesn't mean we can't have a relationship. I understand this, but of course, it still hurts. I thought I would be his wife forever. I so wanted, and still want that. I am on his insurance, and have an appt. with a psychiatrst Feb. 14th. I WANT nothing more than to own this disease, take the right medicines, get well, and make him/us happy. But I'm scared he will leave me. SOOO scared. I feel horrible about the things I did that hurt him. Both times I've been severely manic I "turned" on him--MY OWN HUSBAND! I don't completely understand that. I want to treat this awful disease, but feel scared to death about the future. Can anyone give me some advice?

I feel really sorry for my husband and all the crap I put him through. He has clinical depression and me being me doesn't help.
I'm extremely grateful that he's willing to wade through all my muck.

Thank you so much for being the one person I could talk to. Thank you for never leaving my side through the tough and ugly times. Thank you for being my rock. Thank you for being understanding. Thank you for being patient, kind, friendly. Thank you for accepting me for who I was, and looking on the inside, not the outside.

My husband dumped me, but I will say that it was after I started acting loony but before I was diagnosed and treated. I think the marriage -- which was 29 years old -- would have lasted had I been diagnosed.

I don't have a bf right now, but I know my family is so wonderful, and they are there for me through thick and thin! Thanks for this post Kev..
