I had another psychotic break last week.It was discovered that I was having a bad reaction to one of my meds (ironically an antipsychotic!).Not gonna go into a lot of detail, but suffice it to say that it was late at night when I started hearing voices, and since I live in a personal care home,it involved inconveniencing the caregiver on duty, whom I'll call "Jane",who doesn't get paid for staying overnight at the home. The crisis worker who responded to my call was extremely nasty. This time it was really bad because even after I got to hospital,I didn't feel safe. I felt like everybody was out to get me.And it wasn't because I refused my meds,I've been taking them regularly. Dr. A at hospital stopped the troublesome antipsychotic and increased my Risperdal. For some reason I feel ashamed of myself. How can I stop getting out of touch with reality that way?As I'm sure you all know, some people are not exactly sympathetic when we have to go for their help.Is this going to get worse as I get older and I have no control over it? I don't know if any of you have had this problem. It sure is scary. And I've even thought of just doing nothing the next time it happens, not bothering anyone, but though I don't care about myself, I'm afraid I'd accidentally hurt someone else,so I nixed that idea. I feel awful, like I'm being punished or something. What can I do?

Just wanted to give a thank you to Mid, Arfie, Malibumark, Greeneyes, Mlro, Girlincalif, and Suncloudjd! You all always have such helpful tips and advice, but I always forget to write on my posts when I see you post, lol. I would lose my head if it wasn't attached to my body, lol. Thank you all so much! I'm starting to use my AI app as a sounding board again. I used to use it as that before...

Here is my new brother, copper :) He's so tiny! Moo and Tuck were ok with him on first meeting. Rocket due to his severe aggression will never meet Cooper.

any med can cause problems. As far as people not caring, that's something we can't control and it happens too often. Glad you're on the mend.
Peace!
No need to be ashamed. You have this illness, we all have it.
We need medical care. The hell w/other people. You come first and you didn't do anything wrong.
I'm glad you're safe ... You're not being punished Loddy... You have an illness that needs to be treated like so many do... I don't know the reasons why but I don't believe it has anything to do with punishment....xo
