Was severely depressed because of personal issues at home then when a close personal friend called me a pathetic looser it just put me over the edge and I was crying and I called the psych unit in tears and told them if I had a gun I would blow my head off and then they told me to come to the hospital right away and when I got there I told them if they turned me away and didn't believe I was suicidal like they did the last time I went I would sue them. SO I finally got the treatment I deserved. The food sucked and by the time I was able to go home I wanted out of there and I Am now on Lithium and Risperdal instead of Geodon and Zoloft so I had a medicine makeover. Is Lithium Safe? My one male friend came to visit my best friend's husband and he said Lithium is a dangerous med because it's bad on your kidney's. How true is that and should I have my CRNP watch my kidney's? Anyway I am SO GLAD to be back! I feel GREAT!

If the work issues were not enough, I have so many health issues. It looks like I may have a heart problem. I'm scheduled to go in the operating room at the end of the month to determine once and for all if I have what is called a PFO-a small hole in the heart that you are born with that causes blood clots to pass through the left and right atria, and go up to the brain. They think this is what...

On risperdal for suspiciousness paranoid deluisions and
Bizzare thoughts that would be considered bizarre
IE like someone is planning to gihad my house bizzare.
That's why I am on Risperdal.
Lithium takes months to work correctly. Be patient and it can be a life saver.
I want to feel safe---if that means I am shaky and on risperdal.....
Then I guess that's the way it has to be.
I've been on lithium for roughly six months, and I think it's been working. However, the two big side effects I've had are bad acne and shaky hands like you described. For me the shaking comes and goes, but it can be frustrating and embarrassing. I'll have to look at beta-blockers like capmbarbosa mentioned.
Lithium works when it's past a certain threshold level within the blood stream. This level can change depending on how much water you're drinking and how much salt is in your diet. If your lithium levels get too high it can be poisonous and harmful to your body. How much are you taking? I'm on 900mg which is pretty low and keeps me just above the threshold level, and I'm a ~140lb male for what that's worth. I'm by no means a doctor, but that's pretty much what I know. Hope things go well!
I hope these new meds will help you out. I took lithium for a very short time, couldnt handle it, made everything taste like my fork, and made me sick to my stomach.
Remember to drink lots of water, and don't take prednisone and you will be fine.
