Just got diagnose

My therapist diagnose me as a mild bipolar. I am also diagnose with a personality disorder. My bipolar is not as severe. I applied for the job training. My counselor at the Vocational Rehab will look at my medical record to see if I am stable enough to go. I would like to work instead of applying for disability. I would like to know is anybody working that has bipolar disorder. How do you accomplished it? I'm afraid if I work, I will get stress and have an episode.

I have severe bipolar and work a fulltime job. I get fmla for myself so I cam leave at anytime and not be in trouble. also, I have an emergency tranquilizer stashed in my deal drawer. I'm not gonna lie; some days are better than others but I tell myself I'd rather be independent than dependent. it can be hard sometimes, but u have to will it here and there....hope that answers your question.

I should also add that I have an incredible family and friend network...they are always looking out for me and don't hesitate to let me know when my moods change or if something is just not right. I couldn't do my job without that support + an awesome doc and my meds.

I'm glad to know you. I was diagnosed BPII almost a year ago. It's on the mild side. Your job training opportunity sounds exciting. I think it's possible to have a job situation that works with your bipolar. You just need to prioritize your health and not let trying to please the boss(es) push you too far. Good luck!!

i think it is awesome if you are living with something like bipolar and you can function in the 'real world' like hold a job..... i tried and tried only to fail and fail so eventually had to get on disability but periodically try myself out on a job here and there cleaning a house or two with my sister.... i don't think it is possible for me to work full time but i like to push it sometimes and just see if i can do it and cleaning is a good way to go because it is very low stress..... i wish you all the luck!!!!
