Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.

I have been gone from DS for almost 2 years. I used to be called Heretic but have lost all passwords etc so I am starting over. I am typing this from the computer lab at a women's shelter. I have been homeless for 22 months and have been at this shelter for 3 months. I lived on the street for a long time. There are pros and cons to both living on the street and living in shelters. Neither one is very good obviously.
I had my Disability hearing last month and am waiting for a letter in the mail to tell me whether I won my case or not. I have very good attorneys and I am told I have an excellent chance, given the things the judge said at the hearing. I should find out anytime now.
If I win I will have income and be able to get housing. If I lose I stay on the street till we go through another appeals process, which will of course take a long time. I was given 90 days to stay at this shelter and my time is almost up. I hope I get that letter soon and I sure hope I win. But I am prepared for whatever happens. I know what the worst case scenario is, I will simply go back to sleeping in public parks. It was hard doing that but in some ways it was easier than living in shelters.
Well anyway I am wondering if anyone here remembers me. I have fond memories of coming to DS and really appreciated the support I got here. I can't check in every day, but will be here most days for the next couple of weeks till I have to leave this shelter.
Take care everyone.

I moved to Arizona last June and on those really hot days I would think of you and worry how you were doing.
I hope your SSDI will come through and things start to turn around for you.
You certainly are a survivor and I admire you so much
Many hugs
