Please no harsh comments I'm just expressing my feelings
Okay here is a little backstory. My one close friend is always buying into the latest "medical" or "mental health" trends. She is the type of person to think she has whatever disease she hears about or sees on tv. She sees more doctors than anyone I know and she is healthy and always seeking a 2nd or 3rd opinion for non-existant problems. Well for over a year she seemed to be doing better. Then she started going to therapy just to have someone to talk to about her overthinking everything. She asked the therapist if she could be referred to a psychiartrist because she thought she had OCD. As soon as she saw the doctor they started putting her on a ton of meds. That lasted for another year until she moved and now her and doctor are diagosising her with bipolar 2 disorder. The last time I saw her she told me that and I kind of starting to laugh ( didn't mean to ) and I explained to her that I didn't mean to laugh but it just didn't make any sense.
I've been like best friends with her for over 10 years. We are in a mid 20s. She has always been the most even tempered person ever. We've always talked openly about everything and nothing bizarre has ever come up. She has never experienced depression and she openly admits that. She's never had any kind of mania. She thinks that she is bipolar because sometimes she feels sad when bad things happen. She cannot even define bipolar. She just wants a label. I know I sound harsh but I know this girl like the back of my hand.
I was a little offended or taken back I guess because of my mental health issues. I've suffered from depression my whole life. I've attempted suicide a couple of times. I've cut. I've had maniac episodes. and basically had a hard time finishing college.
I mean if I never accidentally starting laughing I would've of never of questioned it or made a comment about it.

Woke up feeling very emotional and about to clock in at my place of employment. And can't place it all in writing but not been a good experience with my store manager or his boss. Defamation of my character is a concern. I've been losing appetite and weight. Trying to perform at work to keep myself from hospitalization as a result of toxic masculinity.

There is a lot of information on bipolar disorder on Google..
There also has to be a reason that she needs this type of attention (if that's what it is).. To feel that something is terribly wrong most of the time couldn't be very pleasant for her.
Hopefully she'll stick with therapy belle and she can work some of these things out...x

I had to cut her loose. It was better than strangling her.
We've always had a very open relationship where we could talk about anything and everything and it really surprised me how this affected our relationship. Obviously she is upset about it because I rarely hear from her anymore ( it's been like two months )
Sigmund2- I really think you hit the nail on the head. The thing I don't understand is why you would want to go out and advertise that you are bipolar. Most people I know with mental health issues do not want anyone knowing they have a problem because they know they'll be judged. I'm really hoping she doesn't go around telling co-workers and what not ( I'm sure she has)
I'm sure if the psychiatrist told her she had rabies she'd believe it.
I totally agree!
You hit the nail on the head as they say back home
