There are many schizoaffectives here myself included, we do have part bipolar. I have always had a warm welcome from both sides. Please continue as you were, like normal.....

There is much evidence that bp and schizophrenia are different spectrums of the same illness. Many overlapping genes. They found that parents with schizophrenia were several times more likely to have a child with schizophrenia or bipolar disorder than the general population and a parent with bipolar disorder was several times more likely to have a child with schizophrenia or bp than the general population suggesting a common genetic root.

I was diagnosed with schizophrenia and bp. The schizophrenia diagnosis was later dropped. So many overlapping symptoms. I also read recently that in the new DSM they were considering getting rid of the schizoaffective diagnosis. Labels are not carved in stone.

You sometimes change your avatar, we all do so maybe find a pretty princess and put that up but dont change your name and dont leave!!!!

Bipolar Princess is who you are to many of us. I dont think your name has to reflect your diagnosis. Look at many of us....maybe just add something like Bipolar Princess etc. LOL.....xo

I love reading your posts. If you change your name I would be all confused about who you are, besides I love your name. Your BP diagnosis didn't change, you just got an additional one. I think you should keep the name. :-)

Okay- I guess I won't change it. More people would be confused if I did. I just gained a diagnosis because I have fears that Someone is just gonna drop a bomb on my house-or someone is gonna break into my house and slice me with a knive or worse. I was abused by peers and family and genes in family people in my family are bipolar and 2 uncles are schizophrenic-which is why I have this diagnosis. My half brother was killed by this illness. My aunt is gonna die from smoking who is also bipolar. My brother was severely depressed-which led him to not take care of his diabetes-Bipolar and drinking to self medicate made him very depressed. Whenever people ask how my brother died I tell them the illness won. He lost his fight. He just didn't give a crap about himself anymore. The illness in memory of my brother is not going to get me! I will fight to the death. Bipolar will not get me. I will not let this beast win!
