yeah my daughter has everything she has a handheld nintnendo she has an xbox 360 she has an ipod 4th gen and a cell phone every piece of electronic known to man kind she should know that I care electronics cost money......

She also has a ton of monster high stuff when she wanted a monster high halloween costume I went out and bought it for her. When she wanted a hannah montana costume I paid for that too when she wanted a brat doll costume I got her the one with the pink hair and you had to buy the hair separately.

Ok so she has everything monetarily what she now needs is her mom not another present IMO

Anyone can buy presents if you have the bucks thats the easy part of parenting the hard part is the giving of ones time

Children don't want Quality time... they want and need quantity time.. love is not in presents, in fact - definitely gives the wrong lessons....imho

love is presence not just presents

You might consider just writing her a nice card from the heart...the truth is you'll probably do some more things that she doesn't like....BiPolar is a lifetime illness...it doesn't go away. You need to sit your daughter down and explain to her about the disease, what it does, how it affects you, why you do the things you do, and how your trying to manage it and be stable. If you do all this in an age appropriate way it's much better than a 1 time gift from the Dollar store. This will be information she'll need for the rest of her life.

no offense, but she sound like she's been spoiled. if you've already given her all that stuff and still feel she doesn't love you, do you really think another gift will magically change that?

Hi. Parenting can be rough. This is a good start.

Here are some simple things to help out:

1. "Hang out"--just "be" with your child........watch a movie with them or just be there with them in the room--this helps.
2. Cakes-baking and cooking and such......is a great activity that does not take a whole lot of effort
3. Walks (if they will do it)-that's a great time to talk
4. Take them for a meal--
5. Take them to a movie
6. If they are under ten, have a time when you read to them or they read to you or discuss a value or a topic
7. Ask them how their day was
8. Do buy them little happies
9. Take a day with them at school...............


Yes....depressions, manias and other things can get in the way of a good relationship, but if you keep it simple, things can get better.

I applaud your awareness and I am glad that you have taken this step. Continue on this path and we shall see great things.

As well, to prevent future things that involve regret, talk openly using the conversation skills learned in therapy. With this language and with openness, forgiving one another becomes easier and also it makes it better for you both to know how to deal with one another.

And DancingD has a good idea. Also, the "Four Agreements" is good.

My daughter told me the same thing. But she is very manipulative so I know it was just out of a tantrum. My daughter is very spoiled.

As long as you know you lover her is what counts the most. And yeah try bonding with her. I bond by doing her hair and nails. We talk about boys too LOL>

No Richard not trying to gyp the child out of anything but read what mom wrote daughter has ____ and ____ and ___ and ______ and the list goes on. Daughter says Mom you don't love me well good chance in child speak that means hey can I have a moment of your time

As a gypsy I am very offended by the word 'gyp' thrown around so casually.

My kids are oober spoiled and really good too. Sounds like you have some good ideas for bonding.
