Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
I'll stop there.
I don't know I'm glad you are ready to defend! But honestly I'm not sure I would waste much time on this. It's really hard to change peoples opinions surrounding this subject and I find that people talking about charlie sheen usually aren't doing to be sympathetic rather just to feel good that they aren't "fucked up" like that.
It's the same mentality and maturity you see on school play grounds. Kids identifying with each other to fit in by picking on another kid who sticks out's weaknesses. Sadly that doesn't change entirely when humans reach adulthood. They just change the standards by which they pick on other adults. Usually in matters that they do not under stand does not effect them directly and are little sympathetic about.
Personally While I do not agree with cranberry I did not see that he said anything that offensive. Some of the things he said are true of the bi polar illness and I"m not sure every thing he said was directed at ALL bi polars rather more at charlie sheen! Which while I do feel sympathetic for Charlie if he is truely ill (some of that quite honestly cold be caused by drug addiction/alcoholism) either way some one is exploiting him because it gets media attention.
I would just be aware of this as it could easily turn into a trigger for you if you are unable to convince this person to be less judgmental or more sympathetic. That's a lot harder over the internet than in person.
But I am glad that you stood up to it. I'm very proud of you for it. Just don't let this effect you or ruin your day.
