I have been in good control but am still having trouble getting motivated for alot of things I need to get done. Little things like clean house and do laundry. And big things like put my son's bed togeather and paint, things I like to do.
Am I just being lazy or does the meds tend to lead to apathy when they are working.

im the same i go through like surges of being completely motivated to do everything. And other days or weeks i just clam up inside my self and just cant be bothered doing anything at all even though i know it needs to be done etc.

uh-oh I have asked the ultimate question. I don't ever remember what it was like to be normal without drugs because i was always manic or depressed. but when normal people act normal they seem to be movtivated

SSRI's tend to do that to me. I might feel better mentally but I have no motivation or energy then get frustrated I cant do those things. My pdoc just changed my meds today because of it. I have also found that SSRI's seriously decrease my libido. I definately hate that. Hugs

I havent had SSRI's for years i'm on abilify and lamictal now and they seem to be working to keep me from being too far up or down, just cant get motivated

I'm tempted to make a list of things to do and try to do 3 or a day kind of thing but "listing" is a bad part of my OCD so I try to avoid doing it so it doesnt trigger me

I feel exactly the same way. My tdoc told me that I am going to have to re-program myself. My manic states were usually associated with happiness and success and now that I am just blah (which apparently is good) this is how I need to program myself into thinking I am happy. I don't think it's going to happen. It drives me mad to feel this way. I run more frequently on the manic side and miss it, well some of it. I'm not used to not being motivated.

my pdoc said that it's a bad habit that you have to get out of somehow, but how? I don't know if it means that the meds are working or not.
