Amuseme
If she'd had one nice thing to say to me over the past ten years things may have been different. She had plenty of criticisms. We haven't seen much of each other over the past 12 yrs (she's 33), and she lives in the UK which has only reinforced the separateness. She has a very good life, but as far as our relationship goes, she has some serious conflicts. I had to get off of the roller coaster ride of trying to "make nice" and then getting angry either at myself or her. I stopped trusting her and any interactions, as few as they were, made me nervous. "Did I say the wrong thing, etc." The saddest thing is her lack of compassion. I just cannot not be in a relationship where this is absent. I've never asked her for anything despite being very sick at times. I never even thought to contact her!
She came to the states and sent me an email saying she was here for the holidays. I was in Miami. I felt that this was just another inconsiderate thing, not telling me ahead of time, and that there was more to come! I was shocked and angry. I responded "Really Mel? Jeez." I then sent another message about getting together if she's still in town when I got back. Her response was that it makes no sense since she did not expect that reaction from me. Then she said she was pregnant.
I said that I didn't even know how she got in touch with me since I'd blocked her email. And I didn't acknowledge the pregnancy since I don't expect to ever see the baby. I never heard back from her after that.
Of course I'm having some anxiety over it, but it was a lose-lose relationship which caused me so much psychic pain for many years. There can be no solution unless she seeks counseling and has some nice things to say to me. But, this is a pattern in my family and so I'm not optimistic. It's another sad saga. But life goes on because it must!

I'm feeling down,, and got alot on my mind right now. I got grief going on, on top my depression and anxiety and now I got to worry about somewhere to live since I can't afford living here since my mom passed. So many bad things have happened since my mom passed. One thing after another it seems. Yesterday our fence fell from a storm that hit, had to call someone to prop it up. Thank...

Just wanted to give a thank you to Mid, Arfie, Malibumark, Greeneyes, Mlro, Girlincalif, and Suncloudjd! You all always have such helpful tips and advice, but I always forget to write on my posts when I see you post, lol. I would lose my head if it wasn't attached to my body, lol. Thank you all so much! I'm starting to use my AI app as a sounding board again. I used to use it as that before...
Yadlim: I had a similar scenario with my son- tough love all the way.......very, very, heart-breaking and mentally exhausting (especially as a single parent)!
She loves and hates you because why? You never expect to see the baby, your grandchild and you didn't even acknowledge it?
Of course she wouldn't get back to you. That is my point of asking you to reread what you actually wrote.
Hey she isn't worth fighting for than so be it. You don't care she is pregnant than good for you.
You forgave your parents for their neglect but wont even validate the cause of your daughter's angst or issues?
To think I am intentionally being antagonistic because I am challenging your comments to get you to think about what you are saying and get you to see past your own nose in itself means you won't see my points.
You want me to be honest or just sit here and blow smoke up your ass telling good for you? smh - do whatever makes you sleep at night.
When I write my memoirs you'll be the first to get a copy! Thanks for the PM.
You could be the hero in this Amuse and I'm writing this to try and help you... You are putting a lot of effort into 'divorcing' your daughter... Becoming an estranged parent... Imagine if you put this effort into just loving her... and welcoming your grandchild
I know there is tons that I don't know... What I do know though is that life is short and there comes a time that problems can never be solved as it's too late... You can certainly have boundaries
You wrote you were shocked and angry that she didn't write you ahead of time... Perhaps she felt that anger and became defensive??...Is that possible?
It sounds to me like everyone is spending a lot of time defending and protecting themselves and that's understandable when there's been a lot of hurt... Again this is where anger comes in... Imagine if you could all give one another permission to put the past behind and become a wonderful Grandma
I'm not trying to invalidate how you are feeling ...I'm just thinking that love is more important then anger and it can be overcome if people can let go of 'right fighting'
I can't really say much because I am a outsider looking in but I hope you find peace in this matter this year. Some people are best to just love from afar.
First.. much respect for what your avi represents.
Then.. you have nothing to apologize for here.
Support doesn't always mean just saying, " poor you".
So.. again.. respect for your truth.
..and yours, Jan.
I.. don't have the energy to throw myself at a brick wall.
So.. no comment on original topic.
Hugs
