I'd like some advice please

You all know I am fresh out of the hospital. With that and my anxiety I dont want to go to the family holiday dinner on Christmas day. It will be an all day affair and I am not able to drive right now so i cant drive myself and leaave early.My sister has a newborn at home and wont be going to te festivities either which is understandable. SO I asked my mom if I could just spend christmas with my sisiter and her new family. Mom is ok with that but dad is adamant that I attend the family gathering. I truly dont want to be subjected to the family's questions and all. I typicaly skip other parties throuh out the year and m parents are fine with that. so I would like your opinions on this matter. What should I do?

Do what YOU want to do. Im fed up of doing things that please my family its bad for my health. I do understand though trust me on that. U asked to go to ur sisters. Sounds like thats what u really want to do. I say go to ur sisters. X

No matter where you go, your mental/physical health is Your Business, and if you don' want to be subjected to questions, I get it, think about what is in your best interests.

Another vote for following your gut with an addendum that I have found potent healing mojo in finding ways to handle the triggers of such events. My personal practice is to put together a survival kit to carry to the event with me. The survival kit includes therapy material, ideas for finding a quiet spot where I can take therapy breaks, relaxing busy work (puzzles and/or whatnot) and contingency plans for a quick get-away, should my symptoms gain the upper hand.

I would tell your dad that you're just healing and feel overwhelmed right now with too many people

That you really just want some quiet time.....Your Dad may not want you to miss a good time

If they really want you to go with them I would drive there with them and take a cab home when you're ready if it's not too far

You have a voice and you're an adult....... You don't have to 'do as your told' as though you're a child....

I agree you should do what will be best for your mental well being. It should be a priority for your family as well. If they don't understand or accept your choice, there's nothing you can do about it. Make your apologies and go where you want to go.

You sound like you would like to stay home. Since you are newly out of the hospital and are still dealing with anxiety, your decision should not be taken lightly. Doing what we "want" is not always the answer. Doing what we know will be best for us and others may be a better way of determining our choices. What do you believe would be best of you and others?

I’m still adamant that I don’t want to go to the faniking get together. If I do go I’ll bring my crochet and have my earbuds in the whole time. Bits far to overwhelming to be around them

    My day...today...misplaced my debit card...didn't realize it until I got to the register after shopping to a full cart.  Used a different debit card and pulled apart everything looking for missing debit card before I left parking lot.  Got home, dropped keys.
