I'm really not sure. He is up and down all the time. He's been on lexapro for about 8 years. He keeps losing jobs and was having suicidal thoughts when he ran out of meds. He's back on the meds now. I think he needs to be re-evaluated but he just won't do it and be honest. He's an LPN and afraid of losing his license or future job opps if they did find something. I tried to take him to the ER a few weeks ago but changed his mind because he was afraid. What else can you do? I asked him if he felt he was functioning normally now and he said yes. I know he has just barely functioned sometimes in the past few years. I told him I didn't think the meds were working or something had changed because he sees where he's at now as functioning. He is diagnosed with mild depression, adult adhd, and anxiety. He only takes his adhd medicine when he needs to focus and then he can't take too often because it will make him aggressive. Suggestions anyone? He was suppose to start back into therapy but he rescheduled his appointment. I'm really burnt out for school but we can only afford one of us going to therapy. His moods are all over the place.

Life has been really hard this past year. I'm really feeling down and alone. I can't talk to my family about my depression and anxiety their not very understanding about it. It's really hitting me since my mother passed a few months ago, plus stress from having to eventually move. Also having my niece coming around who suffers bipolar and refuses to take medication for it. Its been...

When i was in the ER February 16th 2025, i was being admitted to ICU where i was for 3 weeks, then had to relearn to walk for 3 weeks in another hospital rehab floor, the nurse told me something that made me feel for over 18 months now that i was finally *safe*. She told me that the guy who raped and beat me 21 years ago now almost 20 years at that time, was in prison as of a month before that...

i know from personal experience.
i wish he would just get to a psychiatrist and see what's really going on and what kind of med changes need to be made.
being on the wrong meds can be worse than taking nothing at all..
but not having the right meds when you need them is bad too.
This has got to be so difficult -- to watch your hubby struggle and to cope and keep yourself healthy. I feel for you.
You said that he keeps losing jobs but is reluctant to be re-evaluated as it may affect his licensing and future job opportunities. A spotty employment history screams out to a potential employer and it is not something that can be left off a resume or job application. A proper diagnosis and treatment does not require disclosure but will result in better job performance and peace for your hubby and you.
Ultimately, your hubby will have to pursue help. Reassure him that you will be there in any way you can when he's seeking treatment but, for now, you need to make your own health your #1 priority. It may sound kinda cold and harsh but you must take care of yourself and set boundaries for how much you will let your hubby's suspected BP impact your life and health.
Good luck!!
I hope he will be honest with his doctor.. He's stigmatizing himself.. There is help for him all he has to do is reach for it and I hope that he will..
Big hug for you...x
