I've heard that in one month (I suppose, after the two weeks, I don't know for sure) you get one of your regular checks, and then the second month, you get your backpay.

just the one month would be like a windfall for me I have been living paycheck to paycheck for so long. just the one $1800 payday would go a long way. Also I know that there is something like weather it is paid on the firstor third of the month. I know ss pays one day and welfare pays on the other but I can't remember which is which.

my cousin just got approved in december for a heart condition, still hasn't received the arrears but last saturday got his medicare card in the mail retroactive to the court date.


when did you file, i filed in 2006 and they say they are still waiting for a court date, sometime in summerish. i need the cash too, how did the court date go??

Yeah, please tell all about what the court was like....mine is supposed to come up soon, and I'm chewing my nails about it. Any advice for what to do or not to do???

Court was kind of cool. It was a Video Hearing something new they are using to help with the back log. I was in detroit and the judge was in virgina. my lawyer prepped me with a bunch of questions about when I worked last and what made it difficult but it was all for naught. the judge asked him to read the requirements for benifits from the SS guide section 12 and my lawyer listed examples of how I fit the dx each time. all I had to do was meet 4 of about 10 and my lawyer had an example for all of the requirements. The judge asked me about when I last held a job and did I feel my bp had an effect on my losing it and then he asked weather I had anything to add to what my lawyer said and I said even though my desise makes me think I am smarter than most people I'm not going to say I'm smarter than my attourney so I thought he was complete. My lawyer used the fact that I have recently become an avon agent to show that I had been trying to look for work I could do but ended up with 200 catalogs around the house and owing Avon money (well only $26 but at least we were honest).

My lawyer said some judges will let you know if you win or lose and sometimes you have to just wait for them to file their response. But my judge looked right at me and said you have proved your case and you have won you will be awarded benifits. He said it would take him no more than two weeks to enter the verdict and wished me luck. My lawyer seemed happy and told me its official when he files his letter.

I didn't shave for 3 days before the trial and the only suit I had was from when I was on depakote and was 65# heavier so I looked the part about hygiene and general apperence.

My brothers took 3 years to go through, and 3 months to get the first check. His was a really tricky case though. He received the first check last month. He's got 2-3 more weeks before he gets the final large check. He's been getting a monthly check for 2 months (as of this month).

Great post, nobody666. I just wanted to bring this to people's attention in case they had a response that might help me as I approach my court date of Oct. 9.
